File Off Disk

I seem to be having trouble getting a file off of a disk.

When I go in and try to copy it to any directory or file it will go to about 70% and then it is like:
This is not a valid MS Prompt Fonction or something or other.

anyone know other ways to get files off of a disk.

oh and it is a .VID

It is possible you have a highly corrupt file or a bad sector in the file causing the hdd to report failure. I suggest a bad sector scan just to check but if that still doesnt work, you may be hosed. I have made software that will copy the 70% of the file up to the error, then stop( keeping what was copied, copied ), you may wanna think about formatting if ur sector scan comes up negative
