Fix for "Cliloc Error" if UO is not in original directory

evaristo

Wanderer
nothing, i can't fix this problem, i have 1.1 and all .nets i just have the Cliloc error, but i have uo in the directory original.i don't understand this

which uo do you have installed?

ML, SE, 9th?

if you have something like 3rd dawn, it is not going to work with it

also make sure you have at least 4.0 patching done too
AND not 6.0.5

i do not have vista - but for most things dealing with runuo you shaould have both 1.1 & 2.0 install
they can be installed together - they do not overwrite each other

but do not install 3.5 - it is a beta and buggy

Net 3.5 is not beta, and having it installed won't have any impact on applications that run with other versions of .NET.

This is how to fix the "Razor was unable to locate and load a suitable UO cliloc File.nSome text may not be displayed." error.

Make a new file, called UO.REG

Edit it

Copy below and EDIT IT to match the location of your UO directory.

Double click it and select yes to add to registry

Viola! You no longer get the error.

Otherwise, reinstall to get the registry values...

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREOrigin Worlds Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREOrigin Worlds OnlineUltima Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREOrigin Worlds OnlineUltima Online1.0]
"ExePath"="E:Program FilesEA GamesUltima Online Mondain's Legacyclient.exe"
"InstCDPath"="E:Program FilesEA GamesUltima Online Mondain's Legacy"
"PatchExePath"="E:Program FilesEA GamesUltima Online Mondain's Legacyuopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="E:Program FilesEA GamesUltima Online Mondain's Legacyuo.exe"

"PatchExePath"="E:Program FilesEA GamesUltima Online Mondain's Legacyuopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="E:Program FilesEA GamesUltima Online Mondain's Legacyuo.exe"

i'm completely lost :(

Open notepad.

Copy that text into notepad.

Everywhere you see a file path, change it to match where UO is installed on your computer. For example, if you have UO installed in C:\Program Files\UO, you would change :

"ExePath"="E:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\client.exe"

To:

"ExePath"="C:\Program Files\UO\client.exe"

Save the file to your desktop as WhateverNameYouWant.reg.

Double click it.

Be careful to make sure that the paths you enter are correct, otherwise UO won't be able to find the files it needs to run.

I did exactly as directed, changed the paths to my directory & still get the error.
this is the file
saved as a .reg of course

It seems for some reason some people are still having bugs/errors when using razor with 6.0.5 , so I suggest not going past 6.0.4 atleast for now.

I just installed the UO client linked on uodemise.com on a second computer and Im getting this error.

I made that reg file like this thread suggested but when I double click it and select yes it gives me an error saying the file is not a registry script and that I can only import binary registry files.

I tried uninstalling the uo client and reinstalling it to the directory its on on this computer (that razor doesnt get errors with), C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy

but that didnt help either.

What do I need to do to get this to work?

Hey guys, little new here, having the same problem.

Yes, I do run on vista but that's an argument for another time.

Here's the file after I edited it. I had to import the file from regedit itself. Can you guys see anything glaringly obvious that I did wrong?

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeOrigin Worlds Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeOrigin Worlds OnlineUltima Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeOrigin Worlds OnlineUltima Online1.0]

"InstCDPath"="C:Program Files (x86)EA GamesUltima Online 2D Client"
"PatchExePath"="C:Program Files (x86)EA GamesUltima Online 2D Clientuopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="C:Program Files (x86)EA GamesUltima Online 2D Clientuo.exe"
"Upgraded"="Yes"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREOrigin Worlds OnlineWow6432NodeUltima Online Third Dawn]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREOrigin Worlds OnlineWow6432NodeUltima Online Third Dawn1.0]
"ExePath"="C:Program Files (x86)EA GamesUltima Online 2D Clientuotd.exe"

"PatchExePath"="C:Program Files (x86)EA GamesUltima Online 2D Clientuopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="C:Program Files (x86)EA GamesUltima Online 2D Clientuo.exe"

If not, should I just reinstall UO to the "default" location it would be on a Windows XP machine?

It's pretty simple. Maybe if some of you look at a picture of the work done. I've attached a pic, check it out. Copy the whole thing as you see it, but just rename the path with the location of your Ultima Online's directory.

Hope it helps.

This has to do with the way Vista (64 bit) works with the registry. In fact, not just Vista, but ALL of the Windows 64 bit operating systems.

Windows 64 bit OS' put all 32 bit programs registry entries under the Wow6432 key. Obviously this will screw up any program that tries to check for the registry entry using the standard way. (Pretty much any UO utility that uses the registry to determine UO's install path are going to have this problem - including the Ultima DLL).

Personally I think this was a bad call on Microsoft's part is it invites compatibility issues.

"PatchExePath"="C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\uopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\uo.exe"

Probably this isn't working very well, because the lines:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\xxxxx.exe

should be:

C:\\Program Files\\EA Games\\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\\uo.exe

It needs the double slash to be imported.

My working example:

Filename: reg_fix.reg

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Origin Worlds Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online\1.0]
"ExePath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\client.exe"
"InstCDPath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\"
"PatchExePath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\uopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\uo.exe"
"Upgraded"="Yes"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online Third Dawn]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online Third Dawn\1.0]
"ExePath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\uotd.exe"
"InstCDPath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\"
"PatchExePath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\uopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="J:\\Ultima Online\\uo.exe"

Just change J:\\Ultima Online\\ to your path.
