UOGateway and Problems with Dynamic DNS ?!?

hi everyone.

i wonder if somebody encounterd the same problem like me.

if u configured a domain name (dynamic btw.) in the local server settings
for ur "homegrow" shard uog wont resolve this ip.

if tested it many times with my mate, but i cant figure out exactly
the problem.

heres my network (shematic) as additional information that may helps
(btw. sorry for the bad english)

now here the more detailed problem description.

if an external client (internet) want to connect to my runuo server AND configured in
uog (ver 1.8 ) my dynamic host name as server adress it wont even reach the server.
nothing shows up in the server window.
but if exactly the same client configured my external ip bound on my
firewall/router there are no connection problems.
the client reach the server and can log on and play.

afterall i think its a little bit confusing because this external client
can ping my domain name an get the right ip resolved.
the external client also can watch my homepage reachable under
my dynamic dns name.
so i think ive done everything right because :
- runuo server works and accepts connections from outside.
- portforwarding to tcp 2593 works on my firewall because external connections are possible.
- host resolving on external client site works.

but whats the problem afterall ??

thanks in advance for any replys

You need a service that will track your dynamic ip, and assign it a name, there are a few out there that are free. I don't remember the names of any of them right now, but a Google search should turn up something.

@ quantos

yeah thats right.
but thats not the problem because i have such a dyndns provider.
everytime i reboot my firewall or get disconnected by my flat provider
(after 24h perma on)
my firewall sends some packets to my dyndns provider to tell him
witch ip currently running on my firewall to update his dns-entrys.

after this happens it will take a few minutes and a ping on my domain name will resolve my new ip.
you can also browse my webpage if u point a browser to my domain name
or can access my ftp server with exactly the same domain name.

so this couldnt be problem afterall.
any other ideas ?

Really should go to the source

www.uogateway.com ask Mr. Fixit if he can figure something out, but I promise you there are no known issues with DNS domains with UO Gateway.

maybe yes , maybe no.

but afterall i asked if somebody also run into this problem and may
have a clue what this could be.
maybe its the version from uog. maybe i have made wrong settings somewhere.
i for myself cant test my runuo server from the net. i can only check from lan.
http and ftp access with dns name could be tested with a proxy between my internal client
and my server (internal client->firewall->proxy->firewall->internal server)
if u can tell me any other method than this let me know.
maybe im to stupid maybe not. i dunno.

and btw.
isnt it a lill bit confusing that a ping pointed to my dns domain name from my friends computer
resolves my current ip, he can access my web and ftp server with
my dns name but configuring this name in uog wont work so he dont even
reach the server ?!?

who cares. i will triple check everything again or
ill try to figure out some other solutions.
