RunUO - Ultima Online Emulation - View Single Post - Is there a proper way to shut down server?

I got a server up and running yesterday and began placing items/decorating. When I shut down the server I just just clicked the "X" to close on the window.

When I started the server up today, the character I created was gone as were all the items I placed.

The world was saving regularly.

What did I do wrong? Please help. Thanks.
