I just think it's interesting to leave through these times. There have been some really big milestones that have happened in the past 30+ years.

Vietnam; Cold War and threat of nuclear war; Collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of communism; landing on the moon/Mars; 9/11... then there's the year milestones. 2000/2001. The last time there was an end of a millenium (sp), the Dark Ages were just getting underway.

Now we have the actual end of the Mayan calendar. There isn't another calendar. As far as I know, there aren't any other specific dates like this mentioned in any other culture/religion. I don't think anything is really going to happen. I believe more in Chaos than Order. I believe in Entropy. There is no final "date". If something happens, something happens. We're all fucked anyway.

But it's interesting to know that we're actually living through these times. These milestones.

(yes, I'm high. leave me alone).

EDIT: Besides, figuring out an actual date is meaningless. Dates are human inventions to describe time, which wouldn't even exist if there was no life in the universe.
