I personally like the C# Complete book, by Sybex. It takes chapters from several books and gives a very good overview with code examples. Everything from Syntax to ADO. Additional chapters with .NET Security holes and ASP.

C# Programmer's Cookbook by Microsoft Press - great to teach you once you get past the basics.
