Santa's Quest 2005
* In search of the lost Reindeer *
(( You need to be patched to 5.0.1d - some of the 'gifts' are ML graphics ))

* Download Updated 12-08-05 4:58pm - Santas Quest Package contins corrected Santa's Timepiece. For those who already have the script in, please replace SantasTimepiece.cs with the new posted timepiece at the bottom of the page. I had missed a line in the code( line 30 ), making some weapons 'not visible'. I appologize for the inconvenience.

You must go and speak to Santa.
Santa tells you he is very sad, because all his reindeer are missing. He asks if you will find each of them and return them to him.
He gives you a Santas Quest Log ( a book ) - with the names of the reindeer and what all you need to do.

Santa will give you a reward ( 250gp ) for each returned reindeer and each reindeer will be soo happy to be home, they too will give you the "shoes off thier hooves". Rudolph will give you a Special Hammer.

When you find a reindeer, they are tamable ( -25 skill so do not need taming skill to get them, though with zero taming you may fail a time or two ), bring the reindeer to Santa. To get his 'attention', just say his name and he will ask which of the reindeer you have found. This brings up a target. Just target the reindeer and you recieve his thanks and your rewards ( gold and Reindeer Shoes )

Once you have collected ALL the Reindeer Shoes and Rudolph's Special Hammer, have all the items in your backpack and double click the hammer. This will make Santa's Gift.

Go back and see Santa - he has very good eyes, because he will see you have a Gift for him in your backpack and ask if he may have it!

Drop the gift on Santa and he will be soo happy that....well you get a "Gift from Santa - 2005"

All gifts come in a "Santa's Gift Box".
Here are the random gifts players will recieve:
1 - Christmas Candle 2005 - has a random holiday message and can be dyed. This is the light of the winter solstice with an added touch from last year.
2 - Holiday Bell 2005 - has a random holiday message and when double clicked, rings.
3 - Santas Chair Deed - this is the 'other' throne addon not craftable in the distro.
4 - Santa's Elf Boots - elven style boots with +3 dex, nightsite and 25 arcane charges.
5 - Santa's Mistletoe Deed - a random holiday message, can be changed by replacing on the wall in your house.
6 - Santa's Timepiece - a watch with a lightsource, blessed, for all those dark dungeons.
7 - Snowball Launcher( Snowpile 2005 ) - the old snowball from last year renamed and using the corrected version. * I could not remember who posted this, so add your name and a thanks from me !
8 - Santa's Magical Coal - this gives the message that you have been naughty! BUT.... in the Holiday Spirit, we can't NOT give a gift of some sort, so you can make a wish and double click the magical coal in your backpack and get:
1 - You just cush it with all your brute strangth and get 6-10 diamonds.
2 - You promise to be good and get - Santa's Elven Robe.
3 - You promise to be VERY good and get - Santa's Fancy Elven Robe.
Thanks to so many of the people who submitted different scripts that made this possible for me to put together:

Fury - for his base quest for the reindeer concept
Tink - for the The Animal Trainer lord script which allowed me to make Santa buy the reindeer back
Artie Gordon - pointing out my sell issue( one of these days, I'll learn, honest! )

And everyone who posted scripts of all sorts that I looked at and learned to create this simple Quest for the Holidays.
* I, in no way, want to take someones work and profess it to be "SOLEY" mine, so feal free to add your name and pat yourself on the back for good work!

Hope you enjoy and please post any suggestions/comments or bugs you might encounter!
Be sure to go through the Player Gifts folder and change any gift message names to fit your shard - I'm sure you dont want the candle to say:

Found two glitches on santa claus one you wont be able to add him cause you are missing this [constructable] needs to be on top of this--> public SantaClaus() also if you hit cancel on the gump menu of santa it will still give you a santa quest log book and even if you accepted the quest the more you talk to him for quest the more log book you get in backpack meaning a player can go to him and keep talking to him and he will keep getting log book i tested it and talked to santa over and over and had 15 log books on my backpack might want to fix that too or make him say speeches so players can see what quest is about and wont keep getting log books over and over unless you can get him to give only one time a log book .

hi i have tried to add santa and i cant find him is there something missing
or am i doing something wrong? also i just installed the up dated
one i still cant find him .thank you

thanks i did do that and i get a message its not constructable and this is

Use the Reindeer names:
[add Rudolph, [add Donner, etc. They are all listed in the Reindeer.cs

I just rechecked using [add santaclaus and it worked fine.

when i get the target to place him and target i get that message

did you say it like this [add santaclaus ive noticed it on other shards gms was trying to say it like this [add santaclause not with the --->e cause my players are doing the quest and it works fine.

found a slight bug, you can give him the same reindeer as mabny tims as you want and keep getting gold for it. Kinda easy way to make money.

Well, I did not want to make this a ONE time only thing that players can do - given the variety of Gifts from Santa.
You could always extend the spawn time and range of each Reindeer, so they have to look harder and they don't spawn as quickly

You could also just comment out the cash Santa gives for each of the Reindeer. That way, the player would just get the Reindeer Shoes, which can only be used to make Santa's Gift.

Feel free to adjust the Quest to better suit your Server and Players

it's not the fact they can only do it once, but that fact they can tame the same reindeer 10 times in one go and get 2500gp for it, without even having to start the quest.

Well, we have each reindeer on its own spawner. So, say you set the spawner for 1-2 hours( long time just an example). A player can find where that reindeer is located, or the general area and wait for it to respawn. If you put the spawn timer on something more that 5-10 minutes, I think they are going to give up wating for a measly little 250 gp. Increase the range the creature spawns in, making it a bit harder for them to find it.
Be creative, we all know players are

A very simple solution is to remove the gold Santa gives as a reward - or make it 10gp, even better.
Here is all you have to do :

Go into the SantaClaus.cs in the Mobile Folder

and change these lines ( 128, 134, 140, 146, 152, 158, 164, 170 176 ) from :

SellPetForGold( from, pet, 250 );
to :
Code:
SellPetForGold( from, pet, 10 );
All you are doing is changing the Reward ammount that Santa gives from 250gp to 10 gp

Then you are all set and do not have to worry about players milking the Event for cash :]

Arrow SantasTimepiece.cs Correction

If you have already installed the Quest, please replace the SantasTimepiece.cs with the corrected one in the first page.
The Santas Quest 2005 file has been updated with the correct Timepiece file.

I appologize for the inconvenience - a line of code was missing, making some weapons 'not visible' on equipping the bracelet

Ok, I'm having a small problem, I've already fixed one, We have a Santa script already up. so I had to change his name to Kris Kringle, so i fixed that much, now we are getting this error, and I can't figure it out. I'm new at this stuff, so be nice... :P

EDIT: I don't see anything I can edit there to make it work, I didn't edit anthing besides that, i have a test shard I first got it working on. but the owner of the shard I play on, isn't running the newest RUNUO. She dosn't want a wipe to happen so we are stuck. so any help would be perfect, remember it worked fine on my test shard.

Make sure you have all the files in for the Quest( Reindeer.cs )
If you like, post your KrisKringle script.
If I have time a little later today, Ill post a version of the whoel script using KrisKringle in place of santaclaus.

Ok a little more awake:
I went in and changed 3 files - this entailed changing all instances within the scripts from SantaClaus to KrysKringle:

SantaClaus.cs to KrysKringle.cs
SantaClausGump.cs to KrysKringleGump.cs
SantaClausFinishGump.cs to KrysKringleFinishGump.cs

Compiled and the quest ran fine.
Please PM me and Ill be happy to help you get this set up

Sorry, I ended up falling sleep watching a movie last night. here is that I have in the script on the test shard... this "should" be exact same as shards, but might not.

Default Replacement files for SantaClaus

Here are 3 files :

KrysKringle.cs REPLACES SantaClaus.sc
KrysKringleGump.cs REPLACES SantaClausGump.cs
KrysKringleFinishGump.cs REPLACES SantaClausFinishGump.cs

This will solve the issue that you already have an NPC named SantaClaus.
** this is strictly the script name that is changed to eliminate the conflict. You will note he is still:

Name = "Santa Claus ";
"Santa Claus" is soo throughout the scripts ( keywords and such, names on gifts, etc ) that I figureed this would be the easiest solution.
Your link did not work, so I will have to guesss as to the issue.

Make sure in the Santa Claus Quest Folder you have :
* Mobiles - Reindeer.cs , BaseReindeer.sc, KrysKringle.cs
* Gumps - KrysKringleGump.cs, KrysKringleFinishGump.cs

Along with the Quest Items folder and the Players Gifts form Santa folder.
