Arrow [1.0] [2.0] Animated fishtanks, lightbulbs and a tool

A quick note:
Sorry i have been away so long. My disappearance was not due to anything or anyone here at RunUO, i just got burned and need time away. I have really learned alot since i have been away from the community here for the last year and will be around alot more in the future.
I have several awesome projects both finished and in the works, but want to wait until 2.0 is released to make sure they still work! Stay tuned!

Here are a couple little things that i hope will inspire new creativity in addons I started these because i grew tired of addons that don't "do" anything.

Animated fishtanks:
some 1x1 addons of animated fishtanks that can be placed together to make bigger tanks
*note that ANY animated tile will work including spell effect tiles!*

Fishtank Lightbulbs:
These change the light type given off from the "sand" hued lava tile for some player interactivity. Just doubleclick them and target the "sand" in the fishtanks.
*note that if the player chops the addon, they will need to apply a new lightbulb...the old one broke

AddonHelper:
This is a tool to help players add their own items to addons.
The player doubleclicks the item and then targets the tile in an addon that they wish the item placed on.
The item is moved to that tiles x-y location and its z + height +1.
The player then needs to lock down or secure the item. The item can then be moved up or down with the interior decorator.
The main use for this is to add things to your fishtanks or other addons. We are used to having the move command for this effect, but players have had to "bounce" their items atop things....
*If the item being added is the same id as the tile in the addon, the player can move the item down, covering the original addontile, thus making containers and other items "replace" the unusable ones in an addon.

A screenshot of the fishtanks and the gump of the addonhelper...pointer is pointed at the helper.


Installation:
Add to your custom scripts folder...no mods needed.

omg, this is awesome!
Ive been looking for this for awhile, i even attempted to script an entire fishtank using those animal graphics, kinda like the current osi system. It bombed horribly LOL. I based it off of the beekeeping system...

Thanks for the welcome back I have missed being here! Would you believe that the tutorial..(granite.cs) is how i taught myself...i checked and rechecked a thing and when i was sure of it i wrote it in the script as a reminder to myself! hehe

The backpack....umm, my wife, Morrigan is much more into the appearance of the game than I. ( i prefer the functionality)
She, erm, borrows the gumps of other shards to see what she likes from the inside instead of playing that shard until she sees everything. We don't have a public shard ourselves, so we term it "research".

However, I do know the entire process of gump, tile, anim, etc creation. From the sizes, colors, etc acceptable in a new piece to the adding and editing of them. So if you want to do something, let me know!


Back when we did have a public shard, Mists of Twilight, the above was our login screen. (5500 is the gump # of a login screen in the gump muls.)

I have also found that you can put mobiles in an addon in the same way as i did the items in addonhelper. I would include checks for control master for doing it though just make a new script (or edit addonhelper) to allow the first target to be a mobile and then the second target to be the addon. after the move, make it moveable = false. bingo, mobile in the addon

I didn't think there would be much demand for this though, so didnt include it.

Default More animated fishtanks

here are some other fishtanks i tried...all animated, but i don't like the look of them that much...just some more ideas to throw out.

Glass fishtanks...attempt to put a hued paralysis filed in front of the tank for glass....too high for me. Interesting thing though...the nw corner piece...you cannot walk into it, but you can walk out of it.

Scaffold fishtanks... it has a great frame, but it is just to cumbersome to me.

Deepsea fishtanks... they work, and are great for adding sea mobiles to, but i wasn't posting about mobiles adding originally so....

Installation: add to custom scripts....no mods

I dont know you but "Welcome Back". I love the looks of the fishtanks. I was thinking would be nice for a new look of the fish that you pull when fishing. Gonna try something like that. Thanks

My wife did that, she is doing an entire fishcrafting system and has those fish id's that you pull up along with new mobiles, crafted items, tools, champion etc...she is having it tested on a shard at the moment. I'd tell you what it was, but i am not sure if it is allowed to name a specific shard with a feature...the no advertising rule.

One thing though if you make your own...pay attention to the % chances of pulling each type of fish up...there are alot of them, and you may have to fine tune it alot! She is still looking for some pieces of info on how osi has theirs set up, so she isn't completely done yet...

I have been working on adding a mermaid to my fishing system so players can fish it up but I havent been able to figure out how it fishes up yet. But hopefully your wife releases that fishing system here because I would definately use it. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the offer I may take you up on it. Now that I don't have to spend my time on a shard i've been researching changing the artwork of uo.

pretty cool but you do know that uo now has an actual fish tank graphics and stuff right it actualy has a whole system that can be read about at www.uostuff.com

This is kinda offtopick.. How can i put that "Celtic Desktop" from http://www.uo-desktop.uoo.ru/celtic_e.htm
to my server? (There is no more support for verdata?) So how is it possible?

I know about the fish tanks in Osi, it is in the tiledata..umm...
East-west fishtank
0x3061 East piece
0x3060 West piece
North - south fishtank
0x3063 North piece
0x3062 South piece

It is not animated and it is just kind of there. It can be decorated like i did these, but it doesnt have much room on the outside to hold deco. As far as the Aquarium system goes...
My submission here was more about bringing some life into addons... animations, adding effects to them, generally making them more interesting. I used the fishtanks as a vehicle to try to get the point across since the only other fishtank on RunUO that i could find is rather large and bulky, and has no interaction.
That being said, the gump for the inside of the osi aquarium is 0x2C96.
So if you wanted to make an aquarium that opens to the gump you could place (ingame) the tiles above so that they look right. Then [addongen it. Open up the newly created addon script and add something like:

You now have an addon that, when doubleclicked will show the inside of the aquarium.
For the reset of the functionality of the osi aquarium....I plan to wait untill RunUO 2.0 comes out and see if the devs put the aquarium code in. If they didn't, i am quite sure that either i or someone else here will

It is true that the client doesn't support the verdata anymore. However, Mr. Fixit's MUO Patching Tool DOES! With his patch tool you can patch almost anything (just need to learn how)

Hello and thakns soo much for the link ..one quesiton though

I noticed when I tried to add the scroll addon from there to my test shard that is verdata?..

can someone offer suggestions on how I can do this? I need to change bmp to mul...I know but where do I get the BMP from that?...

To make verdata usable now you run it thru Mr. Fixit's MUO Patching Tool.
Open the MUO Patching Tool and hit File then Import.

You get a popup window. On this, change Filetype to VerData and then select the patchdata.mul you got from the r_scrolls.zip. Hit the Import button.

Now you just need to hit File then Save As and name your patch.
You now have a MUO patch that can be added to your shard's UOGateway folder!

Wow! What a script! I just added this to my server and took a looksie and OMG the fishtanks look good. I haven't tried out the AddonHelper yet but I did try out the light bulbs for the tanks. Was real creative. Thanks for sharing this system.

This definitely gets 5 tumbs up.

We can not get the tanks to chop with an axe...is there another way? will they redeed?

Edit: I downloaded a fresh distro RunUO 1.0 package, ran it with the fishtankaddons in it...and they wouldn't chop! I did a search on runuo about the problem and found that while there are serveral people that have had the problem, i did not see any solutions!

So i created a solution:
In BaseAddon.cs find:

and change it to:

Apparently for some reason the addons are not getting added to the house.Addons and so it fails this check for re-deeding the addons.
