Default RunUO First Impression

So far, being an old POL user, I am extremely impressed with the execution and how well RunUO runs even in the Beta stages. You may have a convertee on your hands if I can figure out where all the configuration options are for RunUO, bravo on this excellent piece of software.

Default indeed

The information looked at so far looks like this will definately be a stable and great core for our shard. I believe that many good things can come from this for the Realms of Faust

Ran in to my first snag of the day, trying to add ores and ingots, but from the way the code looks this is the cleanest Emu on the market. Soooo... It shouldn't be too long before I learn this C# and hopefully will come up with some scripts to share with all.

Lets keep the praise going for this project

Wow this is a slightly dusty post, July 06, 2003; wierd.

My shard is still running strong, much stronger than the POL shard I had before it for over a year and a half. Since starting with RunUO, I have been able to spend more time in game both staff and as a player, than I could ever have done working with POL.

Yeah, runuo is such nice compare to others I have tested, only sphere finally. lol. The only thing I liked on sphere is that it was extremely easy to script, but unfortunately not modifiable.. like a weap on sphere is

[itemdef i_weap]
defname=i_weap
name=weap
id=i_longsword
dam={1 2}
weigth=1
on=@create
color=0480
hitpoints={100 200}

and in runuo, well I'm still not sure how to start one from scratch, I usually take the normal one and modifi it.

To this day, 85% of my scripts are cut and paste. Get a good text search utility and learn your way around the Docs and you can script anything. Using an IDE like Visual Studio or SharpDevelop helps an amazing amount as well.

By the way cfaust, I've never logged on but I have a few friends that play your shard. I hear good things about it. 8)

That's good to hear, though we've pissed one player off recently, we have been working our butts off to create something completely different for a Role Playing world. I myself do a lot of cut and paste, I've only done two small scripts that we use in game on a normal basis from scratch. I like the flexibility of the whole thing.

Ignore the pissed-off player; you have to in order to give them the true EA/OSI experience

Cheers,

Well, we are trying to break away from the OSI thing too, heavily worked map, statics and other things that have been heavily worked. OSI is out
