OSI doesn't display that message anymore, as far as I can tell.

Actually it doesn't. It works even better, although not how it's suppose to. Right now, how it works is that 1 of 3 thigns happens when your parry skill is checked. Either you:
A) Don't Parry B) Partial Parry C) Full Parry B depends on your shield. Bigger shields (I.E: Heaters) block more damage, but don't block as often, while smaller shields block more, but not as much damage. When B happens, your suppose to receive a portion of the damage, the amount taken off relative to the type of shield your wearing. Right now wheter u B or C, it blocks all damage but 1, regardless of the type of shield your wearing. |

Where did you get this information? To be blunt, its horribly wrong. AoS changed how parrying works.
Your chance to parry is 30% of your parrying skill. Shield doesn't matter. No such thing as partial parrying. You get the parry message if you block their special attack, and all other attacks parried are indicated by the white flash. http://uo.stratics.com/content/skills/parrying.shtml |

Which is why, as I said, you no longer get the message (Though I should have mentioned that you'd still get it for special attacks)

Stratics is *VERY* good for finding specifics... But it can sometimes be *VERY* out of date :->
Always double check with www.uo.com or on an OSI shard to verify Stratics' info. (Stratics also will sometimes put at the top of the page something along the lines of "Ever since <insert update here>, this no longer applies" or some such.)

Currently on OSI, when you successfully parry a hit you don't lose 1 hp of damage and you don't get interrupted when healing or casting. It's like you don't get hit at all. Is it possible for me to change this anywhere in my files, or does it have to be a core change to the emulator?

Parrying is just what happens to the mobile when he gets hit. Either you do damage or you "dodge" it. Entirely scripted has parrying wasn't in Beta 1 thus its not a core script. |

on my runuo shard, I have a GM mage who is a master parrier. I've noticed that if he is trying to fight a monster and cast a spell at the same time, he fails horribly because he almost always gets interrupted. I'd say he fails about 3/4 of the time (roughly). Other than spell casting speed bonuses, is there anything that can improve this? He has spell channeling on both his sword and his heater. And he's wearing several items that boost his spell recovery and casting speeds.
How would one go about making it so that successful parrying decreases the interuption of healing and spell casting? Thanks for your help, -Jacob. |

Protection also gives you a -2 Faster Casting penalty and is one of the spells affected by the Inscription skill. The more inscription you have the less physical res, magic res you lose when you have it on. You always have the -2fc penalty though.

Pretty kickass spell, but that sucks about all the drawbacks. I guess it has to stay balanced though. Afterall, a mage with no interuptions is QUITE powerful.
How significant is a -2 drop in spell casting speed? Anyone have an idea? Thanks for all the info everyone. I really appreciate it. -Jake |
