Default do think OSI would be so petty?

I am wondering if anyone here thinks that OSI might have a team of sorts that visits player shards, and browses forums (even this one, perhaps)...... maybe to try to develop a feel for the player-run community..... or to make sure that we are really not a threat??

I have no evidence to suggest this. Im just wondering what everyone thinks about this, and any related subject.

I think they might...
Publish 21 certainly suggests they spend more time playing Player Run Shards than bug testing.

Default well....

well, if they DO do this, is there a major center that most of these activities would probably take place at?? because if there is, I would like to attempt to find out the IP addresses associated with that location and ban them all from accessing my server.... I dun want no EA spies running around MY shard.

I'm thinking if they wanted to see your shard, an ip block wouldn't keep them out.

That is, if OSI continues to try improving UO. My wife reads the boards like Stratics, and they are coming out with Ultima Online X. It is supposed to be different from the regular UO. OSI is offering a special pricing deal if you play both games. Most of the people say that they will not play a new OSI game when OSI can't get the bugs out of the one they have now.
Personally, I want to get my shard adjusted to what I want, get it online, and not have to worry about what OSI is doing ever again.

It's *NOT* Ultima Online X.

It's Ultima X (10): Odyssey.

It is NOT an upgrade to UO, and actually has *NOTHING* to do with UO at all.

It is a totally seperate game.

Default Ultima X

Ultima X: Odyssey is the next game in a long standing series rooting from the original NES, the last game being Ultima IX: Ascension. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with UO, except maybe ripping some of the quality developers from UO to do Ultima X. Thats my guess at least. Pub 21 totally fucked over my Orc Mage char on the atlantic shard, I used to be able to kick the crap out of my Orc buddies (melee) with -1/0 because im awsome at PVP, but now I literally *cant* kill them because they heal faster than i can cast. Ryan please dont incorperate the healing aspect of pub21 to UO! (not that I couldnt manually tweak it but still.)

Ultima X is the next Ultima in the series, but it is also a MMORPG.

Ultima didn't start on the NES!

It was available on the Apple ][ and Commodore 64 almost FIVE YEARS PRIOR :-P

Ultima on the NES was in fact Ultima 3, and came out two years LATER on the NES than on the C64 and Mac (And PC and Atari XT and Amiga)

Amen...mind you, now I'm REALLY feeling my age

Ultima was also directly responsible for the birth of the original sound card add ons (everyone wanted their Apple to sound as good as the C64) - bonus points if you can name the card and the first version of Ultima to support it

Anyone know if banned accounts are prohibited from signing up for Ultima X?

NES Ultima Exodus (First NES Ultima) was Ultima 3 Exodus for PC/Apple/C64/Amiga/Atari ST. It was a near exact port.

NES Ultima Quest Of The Avatar (Second NES Ultima) was Ultima 4 Quest Of The Avatar for PC/Apple/C64/Amiga/Atari ST. Less accurate than Exodus, it was still a good port.

NES Ultima Warriors Of Virtue (Third and final NES Ultima) was a TERRIBLE "version" of Ultima 5 Warriors Of Virtues (Considered by many to be the best Ultima in terms of story). It in no way, shape, or form resembled Ultima 5.

SNES Ultima The False Prophet (First SNES Ultima) was near perfect port of Ultima 6.

SNES Ultima The Black Gate was an OK at best version of Ultima 7 Part 1.

Back to the original question... the answer certainly has to be yes. The idea for alternate magic types such as Necromancy surely came from OSI product managers scanning the player-run scene. After all, it was out there first

In the past, yes. But now, i dont think they still have time to browse anything. They have too many bugs to fix.
