Default Save transfer

Ok, so i have a question on transferring the saved information from a runuo version to a newer one.


Say on a particular RunUO version I decorate all buildings in magincia. The next RunUO version comes out and I transfer my saves....but in the new version the buildings in Magincia just had their building decorated.

So would the buildings look like how the saves had them? or how the new runuo version had them? or will both decorations be there?

I dont know, but it seems to me that your save would override the default save...... but I dont think any towns in RunUO come pre-decorated except for things like light posts and such.

When you replace the Saves folder with your older copy, it REPLACES THE ENTIRE WORLD with your older copy. Anything you did before, would be in place. Anything that comes with the distro, would be gone.

hmmm, i wonder how far the dev team will go in that sort of stuff....decorations,spawning, etc. I wonder if RunUO v1.0 will leave the world open for all to spawn they way they would like it, have OSI spawns, or perhaps an option for it.....

ok, hey what about, if something was created on a server that is using an older RunUO version. The saves are transferred to a newer RunUO version, but the newer RunUO version is not suppose to allow something created that was transferred over in the saves. Personally I havent had much time to test alot out with RunUO, being school has bogged me down, and its hard for me to think of n example....

but say for instance.....in RunUO beta 35 npc A was created in area X. THe saves are transferred over to RunUO beta 36. But in RunUO beta 36, area X has been made to not allow npc A to be created within its area under any circumstances. Now i know there probably is nothing like this....but Im just curious...perhpas there is something similar.

Of course then again curiosity killed the cat :shock:

I seem to rememeber the devs saying they would decorate the towns and spawn the vendors, but would NOT spawn the rest of the world.

(Doesn't really matter... Delete the save folder and you have a completely wiped out world... No items, no mobiles, no multies... Just an empty Sosaria.)


That situation A: Would never come up, and B: The NPC would still be there.

in response to your last post, mike, I dont know what would actually occur in that situation.... but it seems to me that those would be conflicting scripts, and therefore some sort of error would be thrown on compilation......
