Default what do you prefer on a shard?

im posting this question becuase im curious what people would like to see when they first start on a new server, im hoping to get some ideas so i can make a more enjoyable place for users, so let me know what things you would like to see more that anythign else when you enter a new server and what things impress you most overall,

i really appreciate these insights, let me throw another question out, and thsi was pointed out, i would like to get a large player base going, but that seems to be the loop you need players to get players, and i dont have that yet, so i need to make an excelent first impression for newcomers, what would convince you to stay when entering a new shard for the first time? generally people make a character then run around for about 5 minutes and leave never coming back. so i want to do somethign to make the first impression a lasting impression, those first 5 minutes are pretty crucial. thanks again, Atriticuss

Large playerbase, no lag, fast worldsaves, professional staff.

If it has all of these, I would give it a try even if I think i would hate the shard.

I disagree, for a shard to get a big playerbase there gonna have a small playerbase at the beggining. Give any shard a chance that has a small playerbase and looks good, there just waiting for the players...

Hidden staff. I hate logging into a shard and EVER seeing a GM. If I see a GM it better be for something major.

No neon colors. Neon is so UGLY and doesn't fit into the game *at all*. Players or staff walking around on neon horses with neon clothes make me log out and never come back.

no neon colors- as mentioned before
no powergaming stuff (ie buy full spellbook, bag of reagents)
professional staff
offers something unique (there can be millions of OSI clones out there)
i prefer RP shards with lots of player to player interaction

I thought OSI was best before publish 16 before they introduced power scrolls. Only thing that I really think sucked about OSI UO during that era was trammel.

I believe the question was what do I prefer on a shard, not what do I prefer on a NEW shard.

Of course a new shard is going to be small. Except for IPY... :-D

I don't play new shards anyways.

So thanks for trying to act like you knew something.
