Unhappy BUG Reports

What happened to all the old bug report threads???? there were some great threads in there that I regularly referred to.

Inquiring minds want to know....

They were lost due to evolution.

Get over it.

LOL. Good grief, you do have some of the singularly least useful replies I've ever seen Phantom. I really don't appreciate such flippant and trivial replies. I was hoping one of the moderators or perhaps even Ryan might like to comment on whether or not this wealth of material was discarded or kept safe for evaluation and possibly inclusion in BugZilla.

What are you actively avoiding doing to spend so much time on such postings?

Oh and by the way, they still do exist. Maybe just some of them, and they're hidden. In fact I was able to recover the text from one of my favorites already.

For example, if you go here (as you seem to like to say so many folks) and enter *B36* you should be able to find the remains of a few threads still in the vestigial Bug Reports section.

Thank you AWDBall!

I am new to scripting in C# and find that many of the people in this forum; like yourself, are happy to help others out. Unfortunately there's also those that have an inferiority complex or better yet are so into themselves, that they need to provoke others by stating useless comments such as the one you pointed out by Phantom.

Keep up the great help you're providing us newbies... and for those that find this forum to be a squatting spot for self gratification... I hope you seek the help you need... good luck.

This is correct. If you do know what to type, you can in fact search and find the bug reports. They were not removed, they are just not displayed because the link goes to bugzilla.

I dont believe any were deleted (because i have found some of the older ones from before the bug report format was made).

I hate to flame or rant but enough is enough. I read the forums quite a bit and I usually don't post because most of my questions get answered right away. But when it comes to the replies that I read....the quality these days is ridiculous. Using the example of Phantom's reply....this is what i'm talking about. Useless replies that have no positive feedback and do no good to anyone.

Alright I'm done with that....BTW thx awdball

...Phantom's reply
While I don't think anyone would dispute Phantom's programming ability, he has a long history of post whoring and general lack of tact, even before he came to the RunUO community. I should know since I was the brunt of his disfavor on occasion.

I believe he means well in trying to get people to think for themselves but he does have a singularly annoying habit of stating the obvious or more commonly, flaming people that are fumbling around with this stuff. I don't want to speak for anyone but myself but I've become desensitized to his responses and try to glean what I can that is positive, although very little is considering the volume. For one that is continually bemoaning his busy schedule, he seems to find time to endulge in mundane posts.

My sig was inspired by Phantom, by the way.

Good lord people.

I was just pointing out clearly, a bug report system is better then a forum. Thus evolution.

I mean if they are gone its to late to bring them back so why even talk about it.

They AREN'T gone for one, and saying what you just said, in its more tactful manner, goes a long ways towards keeping new members of the community from getting a negative impression of it from one of its most prolific posters. It never hurts to have as much resources as possible available to new people as opposed to having less resources.

As for Bugzilla being better, well, that's a matter of opinion. It may be great for Sourceforge frequenters such as yourself, but for us non-programmers out there, browsing a forum is more user-friendly. It's going to take some getting used to.

The bugs in that forum for the most part have been fixed. With the next release due out in the next couple days it was time for a chance. I was trying to be funny but I guess I should be serious in the future....

Oh I would like it if you wouldn't bring up my freaking past again. I am with RunUO, I am a helpful part of this commmunity, you and others can say otherwise but I know the truth.

I have some personality issues, that I have created to "live" in a community like this. I am honest, I tell people exactly what I think, and 90% of the time people take me serious when it comes to programming, which is all I asked people to do.

Ok..

I have held back and been as nice as possible long enough.

Phantom... in the future if you continue to post like this I am going to fucking cut your head off.

I've fucking had it.

You are getting downright rude. You do not represent the RunUO team, if you think you do, then you have a real problem because quite simply you are doing a PISS POOR JOB.

If you want to be involved in RunUO thats great, but learn to fucking help people without being a dickhead. If this continues you will get some time outside of the box to think about it.

PERIOD.

You owe this community a formal apology, no questions asked.

By no means am I saying bring the forum back. I agree with you about it being evolution, but it's all in the delivery.

I won't say another word about your past if you make an effort to work on your delivery for the sake of saving new members the task of posting every time they are offended by your admittedly candid remarks. And don't count me in among those who say you aren't a helpful part of the community, I'm simply saying you need to work on your style.

An unfortunate side effect of hiding these is that it's a lot harder to determine what has been reported. Hence, I've reported a bug that apparently had already been reported and fixed. If it were possible to still browse over the list of bug reports and see a reply by someone like krrios stating "fixed in next version" some wasted effort might be avoided.

I know there were recent bug reports added to the forum. It would also be nice to know if these were confirmed or not and whether they're being considered for inclusion in this release or some future one.

I for one would love to have a list of outstanding bugs and un-implemented features published, to have a laundry list of scripting challenges. It would be much more rewarding to build something everyone can use than a simple addon script that a handful might enjoy.

I can only hope that this is a real process of evolution whereby the best of the old carries forward to lead the charge anew, instead of being forgotten.

You should be reporting any bugs that come up regardless of if they were in the oold forum or not, this way we can track things.

Ryan

Your right I crossed the line and you have a right to be upset. I am just stressed out about school, but I just don't have the heart to take a break.

I think I need to just shut my mouth more then I already do. I will try to hold my tongue in the future.

Bravo, Ryan,

It takes guts to stand up to your friends and lay down the law. Personally I do not take his excuse "Stressed over school" good enough reason, he has been rude for months.

You can be stern with people and speak to them bluntly, but several times he has been insulting, saying I was worthless, and told me if I didn't like it to leave the forums. I think he should take his own advice. I have been a member of this useful community since August and you have done a great job with it, but my personal opinion, it would be all that much better if he took a break. Sometimes it takes a friend to make you realize just how bad you are treating people.

Take care.

I like the idea of Bugzilla, but what I worry about is that folks are lazy... because they're lazy they won't register with buzilla and thus more bugs will get unposted because people might not want to take the time to learn bugzilla. I agree things need change, as things always change overtime, but I didn't see a problem with the old system. It allowed people to discuss those bugs as well which I'm not quite sure Bugzilla has.

Those same people wouldn't post real bugs anyhow.

Make a FAQ Forum post then, telling everyone how to do it. I have been around, I have never seen anyone add new mounts without adding new animations. So please tell me exactly how you did it.

If its a work around, where its not perfect then I will not accept it as being possible. It has to look good, work without bugs, and work exactly like the default mounts to be accepted in my book. I don't think telling somebody, yeah its possible, its going to look like crap but its possible is even worth awhile.

Anyone I almost never tell people its not possible. Even when I do people never prove me wrong, they just say its possible.

I think bugzilla is meant to provide a more efficient platform for the devs and help them solve bugs faster. While having a reference might be good, taking out bugs more efficiently is more important and in the end will benefit end users more than a messy bug forum.

I would beg to differ, but what ever you say.

Your patches on your site wouldn't provide you with the custom mounts and creatures that require custom animations or do you say thats not possible without patching your verdata.mul?

You edit your verdata.mul I will be checking if you have the same animations ever other shard with those mounts have, which I am sure you do.

for the drake and bear mounts you dont need custom animations.. you dont need a verdata.mul for them... you never did... the animations that have been swimming around for them are the same ones thats arldy in the anim.mul file... so why add it again.. just have to figure out how to make them mountable without adding the new ones.. like i said.. you can come on my server.. dl our verdata.mul and look in inside uo... any animations added have a [p] at the end of it.. youll find the bear and drake still there cause i have to remove them still... I files are hosted on a t3 line from work.. so after you look at the verdata.. then log in leave a page and ill come show you.. if your in disbelieve or want to prove me wrong come..
