Default How long should a Admin put up with GM's

Currently I am running a shard along with another admins help. The purpose is town vs. town warfare...

Some of the Gms that he has let join dont seem to pay attention to anything such as. They were told to keep item count down on the stuff they add to their given city, one seems to like building walls that inclose the whole city he was told 2 times now by the other admin to stop adding so many items, last night while the other admin was off i watched him start building another wall..doesnt that defeat some of the purpose of town vs town. He also refused to answer me when i first saw him online even though he was just talking to the other Gm so i moved him to jail to see what he would do and went invis 5 secs later he goes back to his castle and starts to do more crap and i tried talking to him again only to be ignored but another time..

The other GM has been building a castle in the middle of the sea with a large number of grass/dock tiles surrounding this castle, even tho he knows there is to be 1 castle in or near his city. which he has already built..

How much should i put of with sort of thing, what would you guys/gals do in my situation?

If they don't follow your rules and guidelines give them the boot. Gm powers in the hands of people you can't trust is never a good thing.

My general rule for staff is that if you can help people without staff powers then you will help people with them. If they really want to be staff members start them out as player helpers and have them work their way up to gm.

Delete him. Plain and simple. If they won't follow the rules then they don't need to be there.

I agree with stormwolff. I recently removed staff priveleges from three GMs who were not following simple rules I laid out before they were brought on board. It's not easy or fun to deal with booted staff members, as they typically get exaggeratedly defensive and often make their own case worse. But were I in your position, I would not allow another chance for these GMs. It's not worth it.

And I agree with Quantos. I was typing up my reply when he posted.
Staff who won't abide by your rules or wishes should not be staff any longer (in my opinion).

First time they did something that was againts the rules or didn't listen to you I would have gave them a warning. Tell them who is boss. They do it again and I would ban them. Forever.

In my shard, GMs are told to use their powers at their own risk. I, as an admin, always watch my GMs in action for about 10minutes each per day, to see how they're doing. We have a policy to wear GM robes and look professional, but some go off and wear jupiter armor and such, with no robe. Whenever something happens on our shard, as in a GM doing something wrong, I will confront them. If they ignore me, they're fired. If they respond and promise not to do it again, they stay. If I catch them a second time doing something wrong, I fire them. A^A, if he just ignores you, boot him. He doesn't even need to build walls, but ignoring your boss is something you never want to do, whether it be in real life or in a game like UO.

Im very strict with my GMs If I had a GM running around doing that crap I would of told him to stop and if he didnt it would be BYE BYE

I currently have 4 staff members including me 2 of them arent on a whole lot but when they are I keep an eye on them and check logs to make sure they arent "cheating" my staff members have player chars on the shard as well and they arent allowed to add or change or anything to their player char and if they do they are done point blank fired, cant follow rules then see ya.

Basicly only person that does any world building is me and me only unless I ask for help with something.

Basic roll of GM on my shard is to answer pages and help people,
No adding or altering anything for players, if they need something then GM can show them where to get the item by walking them to a shop and so on, Adding or altering any players items char or anything is GOOD BYE

The GMs I have on my shard Ive also known for 4 years from playing on OSI back in the day so I trust them more then having some stranger being a GM, I refuse to hire someone I dont know well, it will just end up in problems like your having.

I made one person a counselor once and he didnt agree with one of my rules so preceeded to complain about it to someone behind my back not knowing I had a hearall command, well needless to say.... GOODBYE

I'm sorry but I have to disagree to some degree here with some of you have posted. The first thing you stated was that you have a co admin, and from your description it was this coadmin that gave this person GM powers. If you are the shard owner you have full rights to fire this person, but I feel that perhaps you should suspend the GM in question until the Admin that gave him his position has an opportunity to deal with the GM, then perhaps the two of you could make a decision together.
