RunUO Releases are in a direct correlation with the RunUO Test Center Shard. With here today gone tommorow shard that try thier best to undermine the RunUO shard, and to try to belittle the RunUO Shard and its devoted staff. While the staff may appear to be a bunch of assholes they do the best to make sure all of the people enjoy themselves while they test things for the next release. While we may not give everything, we provide the items that are needed for testing. While the fact that we did not release the CTF script may piss you off, the CTF is a major draw to the shard, there is only a few way we can test things, and having players do it as they enjoy themselves is the easiest. I tottally agree with you, even though most of us want the CTF script, once its released people would rather use it on their own private servers. I support your choice to withhold it, hopefully in the long run the testers it nets in will quicken R.UO's development

Good post Alkiser. I hope that you realize when you page saying 'give me eth' and we deny you, we're not doing it just because we like to make people upset. We're doing it because mainly that's one of our big prizes for tournaments and the like. We do have reasons for doing what we do. =)

Actually - if people didn't want to share what they had scripted, then quite simply they can do as we do, and not give the source out full stop.
If they want to share it with others - then the others can see the code. Precompiled script support is not for those who don't want to share their scripts. |

All valid points I think, and as has been said before, the dev team will decide what they believe is best. Thanks, Phlegyas |

Pre compiled script support was not "directly" added not to promote script sharing (we have lots of script sharing already) it was to PREVENT people from releasing compiled dlls without source.
Go back and search, I said on at least one occation that people not releasing scripts is up to them, I understand 100% why a shard would want to keep its scripts closed for the sake of bug exploits and uniqueness.... but releasing a compiled dll is NOT what we want. And on the subject of uniqueness, if TC didn't have Capture the Flag, there would be FAR less players on it than there are right now, so for the time being we are keeping CTF a secret. But anyone who has tried to find me, can find me on IRC regularly, and they are free to ask me all sort of questions, maybe about how I implimented this or that for the CTF. I have yet to recieve a single question from someone making their own. On the subject of direct support for precompiled dlls, the capability for runuo to use a precompiled dll exists... In a few different ways that I can think of..... But so far no one has figured out how, and before you ask, I'm not likely to help.
