Default Remote admin and FTP Files...

I was wondering how to set up remote Admin and an FTP file on my server machine so that the other Admins can access it... Like make my RunUO folder availible by FTP and Remote Admin so they can restart, open close programs and such... Any help greatly appreciated.

That's perssonally what i use, and it work very well - However it use alot of cpu cycle on both the server and the client, so beware.

Use the remote desktop that comes with XP, it'd be easy.
Right click my computer.
Remote.
Follow on screen instructions and have a nice day.

I have purchased this program two years ago. It was the best $30 I have spent when it comes to administrator tools. This program allows you to transfer files, access DOS prompt, take control of the desktop, and so on.

If you are using windows, I would reccommend the FTP server called GuildFTPd. Its a little confusing at first, but its highly configurable and very stable. If you are a linux user, I would STRONGLY reccomend a program by the name of pure-ftpd. This is a command line program, but its very very very stable and secure.

i think thats not a good idea...
it's not secure.

the best is to setup an ssh server, make your security settings and setup a encrypted ftp server like scp

With XP and 2K you can also set up VPN Tunneling and set user/securities yourself. One in you can use TightVNC with another secure password for remote desktop.

passwords can be sniffed...
the only away to be "secure" is to use encryptation... (and always prefer softwares developered by gnu comunity... microsoft always monitors you!)

If they know what they are doing and really want to get in your hosed anyway you do it.
If some one wants to spend a week or longer sniffing passwords or just come in through any unsecure microsoft bug. There are plenty to pick from.
Even Unix boxes can be hacked.

there's a "simple" way, make an exe that runs continuouslly, it looks for up.txt, down.txt others.txt and when finds them it gets up or down the server, and makes other things, it's as secure as your ftp server can be

This might sound weird but I created a trojan virus for fun. I ended up using it for remote access for my computer to server. Look up a trojan. BUT BE WARNED. Some of them allow other users to search for infected IPs which can find you.

Default Try Terminal Services

Terminal Services is apart of any NT kernal system, except NT 4. It is very secure and works very well. You dont need to setup any users or passwords. It uses the system accounts that you have on the system all ready.

The XP remote desktop is the same thing, just a different name.

On all my test shards that I used when building ER, I used terminal services. A small note, terminal services in 2000 opens up a seperate desktop, and you will not beable to see the RunUO server.

I hope this provides another possiblity.
