Default Discussion on MindBlast, for it to be /2 instead of /4

I would like MindBlast to be like OSI.

So (Highest Stat - Lowest Stat)/2

Currently it's (Highest Stat - Lowest Stat)/4

It would stop mages and dexers to have unbalanced stats.
Currently MindBlast isn't powerful enough.
Let's say someone with 101 str, 131 int, 9 dex when he fully alter his stats...

MB= 14 damage when resisted, 29 when not. You resist about 4 out of 6 casts at gm resist.

Ebolt= 34 damage without resist, 26 when resisted. You resist about 1 out of of 6 casts at gm resist.

What do you think?

I believe that Mindblast, as it is a fifth circle spell, should not be as powerful as it currently is on OSI. ( I liked the old OSI mindblast better ).

I like int vs. int better (hence the name MINDblast)

It encourages warriors to take int, thus BALANCING their stats, but mages don't have to heehehehehehe :>

The reason mindblast is /4 and not /2 is largely because it was way too powerful before.... With /2 you find it being use way more than ebolt or explosion, which I don't think is right.

Also, being a 5th level spell, it's much harder to resist than 4/6, I'd say at most 2/6 times

Well MB does 0 dmg to someone with 75/75/75, even if it was multiplied by 10000.

If divided by 2...
Will do huge damage to 100/25/100, unbalanced stats...
Will do few damage to 80/45/100 or 80/55/90 etc...

If divided by 4...
You can kill almost anyone with three ebolts but it will take like 5 mindblast to kill a really unbalanced 100/25/100 character with no resist. If he resist, then it will take 6-7.

If people used alot mindblast, it's because they didn't learn how to balance stats...
It took maybe 2 weeks on another shard for players to adjust to the new formula, everyone altered their stats.
Then we saw alot more PvP skills when the guy cast cunning+clumsy+weaken then mindblast, then many more combos, than the usual explo ebolt, who almost insta-kill here...

Was a bit curious about that myself "/3".

Was also wondering what Kiwi meant by 'mages don't have to take up int'. What damage would a mage do without int? And furthermore; with mindblast. :shock:

I'm no PvP Guru, so that may be why I can't see why it'd be good, but really.

I'm not a PvP'er either, but Mages prefer Int while Warriors prefer Str. Warriors would have to up their Int to defend against an Int vs Int MindBlast whereas a Mage would not have to up their Str. --it favors Mages.

Mindblast should be like the logical way (casters int vs the defeners, stats difference = damage)


But think of it this way. Ignore how it works.

Lightning, 4th level does say X amount of damage.
Explosion/Energy bolt say does Y amount of damage.


Mindblast should be inbetween. Its not weak like lightning, however ITS A FIVE LEVEL SPELL NOT A FRICKEN 8 level. So that fact that it should do lots of damage should never be implamented due to its spell level.
Flame strike should hurt (it does) mindblast which is levels lower should be a tad bit of damage. Look at perspective, how mindblast got fixed on stat differences is so far fetched and stupid as shit in my eyes. Since its mindblast not dex and str blast.
