Voice Chat - RunUO

I was watching a friend of mine play Star Wars Galixies and he was useing the voice feature, were you talk into the microphone and people in your group can hear you. Xbox live also has a vocie chat system but that plays to all. Anyway my question is would it be possible to implment this feature into Ultima Online? I though this might be a neat idea for the next Run Uo relase.

The UO protocol doesn't support this feature, so you'd have to wait until OSI supports it, or kindly ask krrios to include it in KUOC

Or do like most other people and use TeamSpeak. This can be run on a seperate machine and will not use up the system resources and bandwidth of your RunUO server!

Sure you can, just have the sound play through a speaker and then record it to tape!

There are programs that interface with DirectX that allow you to see who is speaking.

Which support UO I might add.

Doesn't require work, called use the program that already written to add this functionality.

Without having access to the client, nothing to discuss its not possible on our end.

Sure we could write a voice server, but why? We can just interface in the curent projects out there in that case.

I would do what Raisor said and try running a Team Speak or Ventrilo server for your players.

ive been trying to set it up but im getting close i can only do it on my network but soon ill try to make it WAN. also it sounds cheap and chopy if you do it threw the game.......ill keep tinkering....

well right now my server wont even start but ive been working it out on my laptop i hope to actually make it Post worthy...........hopefully...

theres a program called roger wilco gamespy uses it for there games.
u download it and press f12 to transmit it uses WAV files. its pretty usefull if ya wanna use that. but if i get it to run with it will be cool........heh but im no pro at this stuff so if theres any help to be givin plz do.

I have been useing Vent on the shard I play on for months for staff chat
and have used both playing FPS games they come in handy

"VENT" is more of a communication tool than gaming one and the "TS" ive heard it causes viruses. plus both these seem to lag. for me at least.......anyway i just like to do this sort of thing......."poke it with a stick"

oh yhea and the roger wilco i find runs a bit better with games. but it may diff. for someone else.....anyway here you can find the roger wilco just copy and paste it.......heh....sorry

kinda big. also id like to add that reinventing the wheel would cause in making somthing like cars......easyer....and alot more fun

Only one problem with roger wilco you have to pay :{ and I was serching for TS all that came up was liek Transexual chat lines lol
