here's my problem:
Every time i run runuo, it does all of the installation and compiling and crap, and deletes my characters. the baffling part is that my macros, my accts, and some of my settings stay.....quite confusing. could someone tell me how to fix this problem so that people wont lose their chars everytime they log out?

If you did a search, you would find that you shouldn't use the default shortcut.

Search is your friend.

Delete the original shortcut RunUO puts on the desktop and then make a new one. This will solve your problems.

the baffling part isn't that baffling... The accounts are one file, the characters are part of the world save file (along with NPCs and such), and the settings and macros and stuff arent even kept on the server, they are client side.

I know you're supposed to not use the default shortcut, but does anyone know WHY? I've looked at it and it doesn't really look any different from the shortcut i made myself (well not so much a shortcut as a radlink)

Because it reinstalls your server instead of running the program. It is a product of an error in the installion file or something like that. Just go into your runuo directory and make a new one from runuo.exe. Don't spend time trying to figure out why when the solution is simple.

Does it matter why your not suppose to use it. Clearly if Asayre, Psz, Outkast, Myself all have said its bugged and should not be used, then its bugged and it shouldn't be used and should be deleted.

Why it doesn't work, because its bugged, clearly.

Doesn't take alot of energy to figure out, that its bugged if it starts to reinstall RunUO
