Default For those of you who have wondered about how good RunUO is...

UO Gamers Hybrid ( www.uogamers.com ) did a stress test the other day.

UO Gamers Hybrid is run by us (the RunUO Team) and is the largest Non-EA shard you will find, with just under 40,000 accounts it is in a word, huge.

Our stress test had 2,039 players online before we finally crashed the server, due to some incomplete code in the network rewrite we have been doing for RunUO. The network rewrite is what has been holding up RunUO, however it should be ready soon.

Server Specs:

8 Way Xeon
8 gigs RAM
15k RPM SCSI drives

Gigabit Ethernet connection.

Enjoy.

Does this mean upcoming versions of RunUO will be able to use a multiple processors?

The last time I tried it on a dual-CPU machine, only one CPU was used. Has this changed recently, or is this an upcoming feature?

Of course it has been a while since I ran RunUO on a dual-CPU setup.

Single vs Dual processors is an old argument. I side with dual myself. It is true that the bulk of RunUO is single threaded, but timers are not and the operating system is at least another thread. I also have one script in use which spawns child threads and plan to do more.

Not to mention you could always set RunUO to have it's own dedicated processor ;->

You really shouldn't use .NET 1.1 SP1 with RunUO

There is a major issue with the changes made to garbage collection that will cause alot of problems for you.

I have all ways woundered do you all realize you need to go into the dot net frame work and register RunUO under it then set aplication Priority to server ?, as it is set to back ground by defualt ? I imagine the creaters know this but thus fare I have had zerro issue with sp1 nor did it when we had a player base that was sizable at the time., MS is lazy so if they feel they actualy need to put out a service pack that chances are it fixes some serious bugs!

any case, SP1 is here to stay any probs I'll just have to fix, but non ever have come up yet *Blink*

You could just uninstall it, and install the supported framework until the next release which fixes the issues...

Several problem, considering its not even possible to use RunUO using Linux. Plus the fact even if your able to get it working using Mono, your server would be so slow.

This is simply not possible, any sense whats so ever.

I think linux support is needed, as more and more people are using it these days. We all know windows is the worlds biggest scam
Serioulsy though im getting a modded xbox *to be here tommorow or monday hopefully* with a 120 gb drive that has Linux on it, and I wanted to have the server on it.

mmmk maybe not.

And for about the 243,968th time, RunUO will support Linux when Linux supports .Net (aka Mono.) --but you knew that, right?

You cannot run RunUO on a xbox even with the most memory it supports. 128 MB isn't enough to run a shard, it wouldn't even be able to run mono and linux together let alone a program like RunUO.

Plus the compile time would be so slow because of the lack of memory, it would take a day to compile the scripts.

Hehe Phantom I think you didn't understand. I know how to remove and add SPs beter then I know how to breath I have don 1000of installs. I wouldn't uninstall SP1, I would simply have to fix what is coussing the Lag all be it once properly registerd as a server app it doesn't cuase any issues.

any case this was all I was saying. you needn't awnser this as its a statment not a question. How ever feel free to add a counter statment if you wish.

I am not going to get deep into it but it has nothing to do with properly registering RunUO as a server application.
