Default Serverlines?

I have a question...on osi they have server lines for when you cross the boundaries into another server for the same shard...there is a delay effect when crossing these lines...now i KNOW my shard only has 1 server cuz im running it and have no freakin clue how to split it on 2 different servers, but why do i still get the dlay effect whilst crossing server lines on runuo shards?

"but why do i still get the dlay effect whilst crossing server lines on runuo shards?"

Coul you give out a coordinate so someone can test it?

It seems bizzare to me. The only thing i can think of is a purly simulated serverline that is only there to get the "original" osi feel.

Default hmm

Only thing I can think of is if 2 different regions that intersect have a large difference in information. Say things like guarzone, music, events, etc.. all those possably, depending on what you have, sometimes can do that. I know that Brit Mines on some servers occasionally still show the behavior of a server line, but from the looks of it, the regions are based off of OSI's. So its possable that is the problem.

That should not affect users unless the server is a very very old machine, or the user is on a very very very old machine.

I know there aren't....however uo automap shows the default serverlines locations for osi shards...and when i cross them i get a delayed effect and books closing, paperdoll closing, backpack closing, etc and when directly on the line speech and spell texts are doubled JUST like OSI... and as far as where the lines are, I have not been able to use uoautomap since i got ML however it has the option to show these lines think its called "show server boundaries" or somethin the one i was on was the one east of moonglow..

Have you tried it without Automap running? I think Automap might lag your machine when you cross the server line. Doesn't it have to re-draw the map then?

Just an idea.

Either that, or for some reason serverline definitions are hard-coded into the client now?

Me thinking you is right, rav and here is why:
to the left of the serverline is water to the right is the black areas for dungeons jail etc etc, so when you cross it you end up all the way to the left part of map to the left of all the continents so you are really moving a large distance across map (and even more ironically, the opposite direction)

This ASCII Diagram shows my hypothosis:
Code:

| | |

| | Jail, T2A & |

| | |

| | |
----------------------------------------------------------------
So therefore its more of a map problem which is of course, client side, therefore the fact that a serverline just means its more convienent for OSI (which uses serverlines). And the effects I am getting have nothing to do with it being a serverline (which runuo doesn't have), but rather being dragged to a whole new section of the map...thanks everyone who helped me come to this conclusion

no, but if the serverline is on the edge of map it does But it DOES has to re-render each time you move to a section thats offscreen from place you were suddely (aka recalling), crossing facets etc and has never caused me lag before.

...but map boundries is not the same as server lines. Of course you can't travel off the map.
