Default Whated to get opinions

hello,

i'm working on a new shard and have kinda been struggling with what skill cap i want and had an interesting idea. i thought of doing the standard 700 and making a skill cap scroll (similar to the stat cap scroll) that would bump the skill cap for that character to 1000. just wanted to get opinions on this idea and/or if anyone else has already done this maybe you could share your experience with it and if/how well it worked. thank you.

edit: hehehe, now i know i'm tired. i said whated instead of wanted in the title. rofl.

Really depends on what you want players to be able to do with one character. Should they be able to GM/Legendary many skills or just a few?

Personally, I stay away from any shard that has no skill cap. If one character can do anything and everything, there's no need for interaction, trading/bartering, and it really limits the crafting skills of blacksmith, tailoring, and others that make items that everyone (or at least most everyone) uses.

I think it's an interesting idea to play around with...

Idk, there are upsides and downsides to both just setting an initial skillcap of 1000 and making it feasible to achieve it with a skillcap scroll...

it all depends on how you want your shard to be

on mine they start out at 700 cap, then every level they earn it goes up by 50 points
so in theroy, at level 116 they could have 120 in all skills
but to ever attain that would take years to get, so not likely to happen
but this simulates to me that as you "max yourself out" you open new doors of learning
of course i also have individual skill caps based on class, etc (which can be raised), so you just can not start out being a blacksmith and a fighter, etc

but to make it more interesting - might want to make it in jumps of 50 or 100 (like the stat scrolls are in 5's) so that 1000 is rare to get, but 750 or 800 is easier

I start with a stat cap of 1100, you can get upto 1220 with vet rewards(20 + a skillcap deed..if chosen) and then another 100 with a Level Reward (again if chosen).
