My server is Due to be hosted on wednesday and has attracted the interest of many Defiance players. So now they have placed a forum thread and a MOTD ingame and other acquisitions about my server. Basicly it says the staff at Anoxia have sent the entire defiance playerbase some tracking device to steal their ingame accounts etc.. This is complete rubbish and im asking for it to be removed since you are the admin of RUNUO and Razor.

How would the playerbase of Defiance know of your shard unless you did something you shouldn't have and advertised on their shard in the first place.

because i had Anoxia on my MSN name. Light (admin of DFI) is on my list and seen it then comes up with this thread.

This seems unfair towards you.. and if UO is so great, why are they worried about you getting ahold of the Accounts.xml file? - Seems like a load of crap to me... They seems like they are just looking for a scare tactic to use for some reason or another.

However, i have not dug into this and am just replying based on what i have researched from this topic. -So I cannot certify any of my comments without more information on the case.

But this seems very suspicious on behalf of both parties. I wouldn't worry about it, you should have nothing to worry about if you haven't screwed them over somehow.

Also the only person i spoke to about scripting asked me what i needed, i said ive done just about everything except for a few small things. he offered a few scripts "UHS, HBD" so that is supose to prove im taking peoples accounts and passwords, oh and its RUNUO server so yes i can veiw accounts but not any passwords anyway.

The post linked to in this thread does not mention any sort of "tracking" device, it talks about plain-old run-of-the-mill account stealing that happens all the time. There is nothing wrong with their post, they are warning their users. If you hadn't advertised specifically to their players then they would not have pointed you out by name.

What would you have us do about it anyways?

I'm sorry for your plight, but in all fairness I doubt this would have even been an issue if you hadn't gone a step further and advertised on Defiance. The following is from the link you posted on this thread.

A player has been trying to advertise his shard on our servers (Anoxia UOR), this individual is a donation frauder whom got banned after doing fake donations (which as we explained before, costs DFI money - because we pay the bank fee - hence our players lose donation money - which is why we report it.)

Anyhow, this scammer/frauder has now over the weekend downloaded a fresh copy of runuo and started advertising it as a "new UOR" shard.

I just want to warn players to be very careful with using sensitive credentials as your login/passwords.

The individual was spamming trying to hire "a scripter" and when a friend of mine stepped up and pretended he was a scripter, the invidual asked him infos about decrypting the account.xml file.

This has sadly happened other times in the past where players have gone to fake shards and used sensitive password infos, then gotten their accounts looted/emails compromised.

This is a heads up to be careful and only use passwords/acct names you don't mind being compromised.

Something tells me, and maybe I'm wrong... that we're only hearing one side of the story and maybe some half-truths. ...lol Ryan can't help you here because Ryan can't control what Defiance does or does not do. Advertising your server on any server is bad for business and people wont deal with you . If you're desperate for players you might want to build a website, if you haven't already, and make it available to search engines.

Additionally go onto the EA commercial servers and make some friends; maybe they'll be interested - but remember never to talk about your server in game (could get your account banned); the best way is to hint about it during casual conversations on similar topics in Teamspeak, Skype, or even Ventrilo. People using the commercial servers are always looking for change; maybe your server has what they want. lol

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

If anything you got some free advertising from Defiance. The bigger deal they make about your server, the more curious some people might get to at least have a looksee. Remember - even negative press can be good press.

hi this is his gf not him, with this whole crap with defiance has been like so exhausting you have no idea lol, it relly happened coz i was talking to one of my mates on defiacne just one person that my host is nerly ready nothing about a name or anything and the owners gf who is a total btich btw can i say that hehe, over heard she was hidden and none else was around so yeah we didnt know she told her bf who hates us btw about me saying that our host is nerly ready in return me and my bf both got our accounts blocked and jailed, he then abused us on msn along with his gf, then he made up false aqqusations on his motd and on forums like where a new shard just trying to be given a chance and just seems like every step of the way where being fought against like our once friends dont wana join because of this stuff and it is really frustrating tbh, and with the website it is in progress atm and where hoping to get it up soon so then we will look more legit, i just didnt understand why someone would abuse there power in such a way to ruin a shard that isnt evan live yet, just seems that he is really unprofessional, thanks for your time =]

and with the whole donation fraud that is total bullshit wat really happend was my bf bought items for irl off a guy, the guy said he would donate for them coz my bf didnt have a donating thing, and then the guy would put his player character as the one to claim them so we payed the money for the items then the next day turned out he had used a hack to pay like 1dollar for the itmes we had tryed to tell them his but all we got was abuse, and being told where lieing coz the ips matched or something we dont know how the ips matched we dont know what hackers are capible of, but the guy had done it before and you would think that if he had done the exact same thing before that they would know it was him obviously not though so yeh...

In the end you're trying to advertise your shard on another shard. If you have to do this to get players you're in for a lot of pain. Advertise like normal shards.

It's hilarious because DFI players are always so willing to go to other shards and get themselves hacked. I have a friend who is aboslutely loaded on that server and has played it for about ten minutes (collective time of logging into people's accounts).

still makes me laugh about how i apparently needed to advertise my server to get players. When i started anoxia it was just a simple small server for a few mates. They told their friends etc so i then built onto my server. Next thing i know, im paying for a host.. add my servername to msn and im banned from defiance and accused for "luring players ingame" but oh wait.. how could i lure players from defiance if i was banned just after i added my servername to msn. Also why would i bother recruit from another server when its quite clear that after 2mins your jailed anyway.. quite pointless really. At the end of the day, defiance is soon enough dead (and this was befor the rise of anoxia) we just moved the death on alittle faster. In their defence the only thing they could do was ban anyone who replyed saying the thread was all lies.. wonder how many players have been banned from defiance in the past 3 days.. great shard.

Zippy - Since ryan made runuo wouldnt there be any control of what go's on between RUNUO servers? if not.. you should list a few rules in the download page.
