I was looking for information on cartography and what exactly sextants do in relation to treasure maps (I still don't know @_@), when I came upon something interesting to me. First of all, I've never played retail Ultima Online, just RunUO. So I'm wondering if RunUO's cartography system isn't up to date, or if something happened between Mondain's Legacy and Samurai Empire that changed it from this,
Ultima Legacy to what it is now. I really like the way that system looks, with lots of different sizes of maps and 'charts' that work in tandem with sextants to show your actual position in the world like the old Ultima Underworld games did. Is RunUO missing this content, or was it removed in a subsequent patch or expansion to make the system simpler and less redundant by condensing the multiple types into only four maps? By the way, why is a 'world' map not a world map? The one you buy in the cartographer's shop is all scrunched up and impossible to read, while the one you actually craft is much too small to see the whole world. The map window should expand once you reach 100 cartography to take up most of if not all of the screen ( at least all the space it needs to show you the 'world.' ) |

That is a custom cartography thingy. Cartography in official uo is like the one in RunUO --> ORIGIN - Ultima Online - Playguide

Ohhh... Sorry, it was late when I looked at that. I'd heard of a similar system before so I figured I was missing out on something. It's a custom shard, isn't it?
...Well, thanks for the information. It was really confusing - I looked up Mondain's Legacy and cartography and that one was at the forefront. |
