I'm new here, but I'll just pipe up.

They've said no, it won't be supported. It's hard, it's DMCA, it's not really wanted by the community, they're mad at EA for trying to kill free shards (which I doubt). But, my question, to try and steer the thread towards something more productive.

Is there any info on how to have a KR client try to sign on to my server anyway?

I know it's not everyone's favorite. But as someone who played UO in beta, and stuck with it through the 3rd age, the KR got me excited about trying it again. I'd prefer to run my own server, so I don't deal with the griefers and can just play with some friends. I'm not looking for the KR 'upgrades' other than graphics.

Thanks,

Hopefully Iris will be finished soon and they will dwarf the KR client.

Liking the graphics or not is pure opinion. I like them and would like to use them. I'm honestly tired of the same graphics from 97, and would enjoy the upgrade. If you don't, don't use them. Me being able to wouldn't cost you anything.

If I have to find a way to make it work myself, I may do that. If someone else already has, why re-invent the wheel?

And whether a neg moves your score or not, I let you know I don't care for your attitude. So as far as I'm concerned, it worked. And I really only care about how I see it. I'm sure you can relate.

So Arkad...

What's Iris?

You want to keep this up, take it out of the forums, PM me. Knock yourself out. No reason to put everyone else through this.

But yeah, your first post isn't flagrant, but it did have attitude. "and thank god for that". No one asked for your eval of KR. If you basically challenged those who do for no real reason. Those of us who like it would like to try and make something happen. Honestly, I've been reading around here for a little bit now. Most of your posts I've stumbled on come off that way.

Like I said, I'm not going to keep dragging it out here. You want me, you know where to find me.

On with something productive,

Iris looks interesting. There are parts that look really good, and other parts that seem a little jarring. Definitely worth giving it a try though.

discussion - Definitions from Dictionary.com

"thank god for that" is not attitude, it is expressing an opinion (which actually did not directly imply an evaluation of the Kingdom Reborn client in and of itself, just runuo's support of it.) You expressed your own opinions on the matter in the post directly afterwards.

And I'm not gonna take this to PM. You've already shown your preference for anonymous rudeness with the karma.

oh and theres several ways to get KR to run. Most are hosted offsite on russian sites and links may be broken, but one of the clientside tools to remove encryption is called "KR Loader" although some of its keys may be out of date. it can be found (hopefully if link isn't broken) here: http://scriptsharing.dv-team.de/dle/...54e0935bc2ff67 . Not sure what server side projects work correectly these days, but try this: http://rs90.rapidshare.com/files/407...Support_R3.rar

EDIT: edited link, as first one was customized for a certain shard (would have been easy to change it but w/e)

EDIT2: mixed up links.

I think a personal disagreement between people should stay that way. But if you feel public rudeness is preferential to private (not anonymous, I presume you'd be able to figure out who you're PMing), then fine.

No one technically can stop you from taking a discussion in any direction you like. But if you choose to use that tone, I'm free to use mine. You're effectively giving me attitude for saying that you're giving people attitude. Not sure what you hope to accomplish by that.

I used the tool of the forum to express my opinion. That's why it's there. As is obvious, since you know who did it, it IS NOT anonymous. I hoped if enough people said 'hey, lighten up' you might. But obviously, I was wrong.

When someone asked a question, you responded in a tone that would make them, and others, not want to continue. The difference, is in tone. "I don't like KR" is one thing. "Thank god for that" is another, especially when it lacks any reasons why. If you can't see that, there's no way I know to explain it.

I posted my point of view because yours would discourage people from an answer atleast two of us were looking for.

THAT SAID

Thanks for the abyss link. I've been searching Google for two days and while I saw they were doing something, wasn't very clear on it yet.

Thanks again for updating the links. I'll see if I can get it working tonight.

Otherwise, Iris looks like an interesting alternative.
