Default MyRunUO issue....I need to get around a Dynamic IP

Ok...i have a problem.

I am setting up MyRunUO....i have it all running and what not but my webhost is causing a bump. I have to enter an IP for allowing my computer to connect to update the MySQL database. I don't have a static IP....is there anything i can do to get around this?

I know this isn't a support forum, but this isn't anything really for Script or server support directly....it's more an external problem with RUO.

thanks for any help

Try a Dynamic IP redirect service like DyDNS, there are many out there, most for free.

You could also write a script to update the client end hosts file with an IP published through another web server. This is involved and purely theoretical as it would require OS version detection and a manual update on the server end whenever an IP changes (though that could be automated as well with a custom reroll of the server). That would make the change seamless on the client end, and add no more than a second to the login process.

However, this is my first post here after a 3 year absense from the forums, and people were talking about it back then, so someone may have implemented such a change in that time. It would be helpful.

But back on topic, DyDNS is free and easy to set up, and I'm sure there are tutorials buried somewhere in the archives here.

Good luck.

@Arkal: sorry but that didn't make any sense to me....the problem im having is that my webhost requires me to enter an IP for remote connection....this would be my external IP....which changes.

I have a no-ip.com account for my server and everything....and that works great for client connections and connect UO and what not. So i dunno how that would work me going from my computer to another machine....normally those type of service's are for incomming aren't they?
