Default Graphics Question

Heh, this is going to sound really out there and I know the amount of time this would take to do, but I was just curious what kind of programs could be used to edit the graphics of Ultima Online. I mean, I have a program called Maya PLE 7.0 and it can do 3D modeling, but can it be used to edit UO graphic files as well? Any help here would be great.

Sure sure. But the UO graphics files that I see carry the .grn extension and nothing I have can read that, which includes Photoshop CS2 paint, etc. Any other ideas?

What version of UO do you have?
I've never seen grn files for UO before.

.grn are the 3d models. It's the granny format from Rad Game Tools. To edit them though, you need to reverse engineer the file format, or drop a couple grand for the Rad Games Granny SDK

There are manmy programs to edit the 2d client. I am currently editing many animations to place in game which i had lost a few years ago due to hardware failure and i use uoamin, and michelangelo I once created an armored warhorse for UO years ago and am creating almost all the animations from baldur's gate and icewind dale for Uo so it is very possible to create animations for the 2d UO client. now finding a place to host my new website is another story lol for these animations was gonna take them to UO graphics and allow them to use what i have done but unfortunately they dont allow certain files sizes so kinda screwed on that part

I see, I have the 9th anniversary edition too but I never touched the "3D". Well I did once, hence why I never did again.

To clear this up.

UO:Third Dawn introduced the UO 3D Client which uses the *.grn (RAD Granny FIle Format) for all Characters, Monsters, Animals and Clothes+Weapons.

AoS continues this Client and also UO:Gold and Aniversary Edition. Currently EA killed the whole 3D Client and don't distribute this models anymore with thier current Setup.

We wrote a decoder for this granny format and use this models in Main Page - Iris . There is also an old Grannyviewer at berlios from our abbadoned iris1 project.
