Default Appeal to RunUO Devs on RunUO 2.0

I've reviewed the changes from 1.0 to 2.0 as it concerns my public releases, and have one major concern.

It seems with 2.0 there is no way, tricky or not, to update the area of a region. With 1.0, you could simply apply a new set of Rect2Ds to Region.Coords, but Region.Area in 2.0 is read-only. Now, I can update the Rect3Ds in the array, but if the entries I have exceed the given array length, there's nothing I can do.

So I looked deeper. Since my major concern is how to update a house region, I looked in BaseHouse to see how the new changes are applied there. While this hasn't changed, BaseHouse.Region is also read-only.

I've been left with the conclusion that the only way to update the region is to demolish a home and rebuild it, but even here I am sure there will be complications.

So here is my appeal: Please make Region.Area writable. My TownHouses system is on the line =)

~Update

I did find one way I can solve this problem, involving a modification to BaseHouse and possibly HouseRegion. I really do dislike modifying stock scripts, creates all sorts of possible installation problems for users.

Unregister the region
Make a new region object with the new area
Regster the region again

That is the only way.

Hum.. lets see if Im getting straight what you are saying.. we cannot add a new regions custom script ? we are limited to the total amount of regions existing in the server?

If so this should be changed to the way it was before, there is no reason for such a change imho. It only makes a difficult task of adding a region which added versatility, into a useless thing for most shards out there.

I use custom regions ( not the script called customs regions in a box ) for a lot of things, quests, special dungeon areas, event areas, etc. The way you are saying it would seem to me that I would loose the ability to do so where we to move to 2.0 RC1

Is this what you are referring to Knives?
