Realistic Animal MMORPG

[Two Wolves]

My guild has players that stay in Wolf Form and RP as realistic wolves. There are separate wolf packs that maintain their hunting territories, have established hierarchy, the breading pair gives birth to pups and so forth.

Later while doing some research on wolf behavior, I ran across groups that are already doing Wolf RP on forums and IRC. UO would be a very nice setting for these players to transfer their existing wolf characters into and get a chance run and hunt and fight "for real".

The trouble with that is, getting the 80 Ninjitsu to cast Wolf Form is not a picnic for UO beginners. My players are doing quite well, with a little Razor knowledge and a slight stretch of the imagination - standard UO does work as a natural environment for this type of RP.

Maybe it would be utterly trivial to suggest some modifications that would make realistic wolf RP in UO accessible to utter beginners.

I would also like to keep in mind the thread Ryan started about using the talent of the runuo community to make a new game. With that line of reasoning, a dedicated Realistic Animal MMORPG could be created based on what is already in RUNUO plus a custom client.

Later, I will be coming back to this discussion thread with more specific suggestions for 1) UO modifications to enhance Wolf RP, 2) design goals for a new Realistic Animal MMORPG

There are probably four types of suggestions that can be made regarding animal rp.

1) UO modifications to enhance Wolf RP
a. suggestions for tweaking an existing UO shard
b. suggestions for making a UO server dedicated to Wolf RP

2) design goals for a new Realistic Animal MMORPG
a. suggestions for the specific design of a Wolf RPG
b. suggestions for broader design of an Animal RPG

this is very easy to do all ready in game

1 of 2 ways can be used instantly

1) juust change everyones body to the worlf for on character creation
or
2) just give everyone worlf idols at start up an have them use them

but this way can be wolfs, or any other animals you want

I would suggest using pre-aos shard, since you would not want to mess with resists, etc, since you can not equip/unequip weapons, etc
(can remove them copmpletely, along with crafting, etc also)

Very nice ideas, And I agree on pre aos. You could also add new paperdoll images to suit the game.

My suggestion is for an item such as this, intended for a full time animal RP character that once transformed can not be changed again. This character will not be able to Mount, Tame or use items so Wrestling will be important.

We are currently using Ninjitsu - Wolf Form. The movement speed bonus is very nice, but there are drawbacks. Some skills you have to hide and un-transform to use. Skills that we would like to have that unhide you we can not use like Forensic Evaluation. A permanent transformation item will solve these skill usage limitations.
