Help with getting Started

[Damainz]

I have no idea how to get this thing running. I installed Run Uo and i get to the MSDOS prompt and thats about it. Do I just run Uo after i get the prompt or what. Also do I need Age of Shadows or can I just use the Second Age. I'm having troubled getting this thing started so If anybody could help me out with installation and getting started I would appreciate it greatly... Thanks

hmm, those links didn't work. I installed UO 8th age and the patch finished, and I was able to play with the free NEW ACCOUNT code, however I downloaded runuo *wich didn't come with ANY instructions, and after googling it, and searching the forums couldn't find anything on it* and it doesn't work. It just starts a dos prompt, then scrolls a bunch of red text then says "One or more scripts failed to compile or no script files were found. -press return to exit, or R to try again"

Do I need to put certain folders in specific places? I'm looking to just play in the world alone, offline... Can someone please respond to this ?

If you downloaded the already compiled package (the one that is runuo 2.0 RC2 and does not say source) then you should just have to extract it from the zip and run the .exe. It is easy to setup and run (and not too hard to compile - but if you got the source it has to be compiled before you can run it). Did you take any of the items out of the runuo folder or leave them all where they extracted? Copy the exact errors tho so we can see.

To copy the screen you right click the top of the dos screen (or hit alt should pull down the menu too) then choose the option near the bottom with a > to it (it will allow you to select an option called mark - I do not remember the name of that spot sorry). Then you drag the cursor over the errors (you only get one try though with the clicking, if you let go before dragging the highlight over the entire group of errors you will have to do the marking all over again), then go back into the same spot mark was in the menu and choose copy (with the errors still highlighted)... Then you can post it here with a code wrap on it. Hope that helps (I would check the name of the entry on the menu if I had runuo shard installed on this system, sorry...

HAHAHA! *ahem, , , * ok, so what I gather is NOTHING "could be found". I downloaded RunUO-2.0-RC2 and then unzipped into seperate folder onto my desktop, then all I did was run the .exe and thats what happened. Like I said before I put 8th age *which the manual says it covers up to Samari Empire expansion* on the other day, ran it, got the patch, and played with the free code that came with the game to make sure it worked, and I'm here at RunUO to get to be able to play it offline by myself. Before I put 8th age on, I tried installing 9th anaversary ed. but it stopped HALF way through with an error, twice, and I didn't really delete it, I hope that doesn't make a difference, I just put 8th age on, and played. It installed under C:/Programfiles/UltimaOnline/ which IS the default, so Any help would be greatly appreciated, , , I'm going through UO withdraws since I'm in the Military and deploy all the time, , , :-(
