Question Connecting from pc to server without Internet

I have a hardware related question, I have searched the forums extensively and have found nothing to help me out.

I have 2 computers. I plan on building one as a server and using the other to connect to the server and run the client, however I do not currently have the internet. Is it possible to connect to my server computer with my client computer through some kind of hardware configuration?

Yeah, network them like you would usually network two computers. Get them both to have the same first three numbers of the IP (I recommend 192.168.0.*) and then get a hub and plug them in

I have a switch will that work alright? All I have to do is plug each of the network cards into the switch and they will be able to connect?

Post Setting up a home network

Get yourself a Local Area Network card for each computer ( most motherboards have them built in these days), and a LAN (Network) cable.
Go into your Control Panel (in Windows XP), and click on the Network setup wizard. This will make a floppy disk, which you insert into the Client machine, to set it up.

Just set up UO Gateway (on the client machine) to communicate via IP: 127.0.0.1, 2593. This is the default IP of a Home Network.

I hope this helps.
