Default Remote access

is there a program or a way for me to access a remote server to add/delete edit scripts?
im admin on a shard in the USA and im in the UK so its awkward to get scripts updated
basically a prog or way so i can accesss /scripts folder only?

you would have to run an ftp server on the same server as the shard, thats the only way to do it that i know of, thats also how i do it.

there are programs out there that do remote hosting like RAdmin or InTouch. Having remote visual contact with your server is the only way to go if your server isn't in your home. With only ftp, you can't restart the server if there's an error. Unless you wanted to just do FTP, and then test them on your home computer for compatibility/functionality before you upload.

XP comes with remote desktop capabilities, it's how I access our remote server which is running 2003.

Can anyone school me on how to use Radmin from outside of my home network/router? I use it inside the network to do things, but I've yet to figure out how to get through my router and manage the systems on the network.

yeah i thought about "remote access" so does it work ok? any hints for me might just go that way ftp is limitied in starting the server from the program itself,but ftp is ok to add edit files

well i do it on my local pc test before i upload but i dont have access to the host but he wants me to be able to so i dont have to email him the changes/new scripts and wait a week for it to be implemented

Remote Access works fine. RAdmin is a bit sluggish, but it works as well. DameWare and PCAnywhere are good comercial-level apps, too.

UltraVNC (one of many VNC client/server packages) is much faster than most.
