My son logged into my server and created a Samurai which placed him in Takuno. His character is stuck.
Does the current RunUO server include the maps/tiles for takuno? Can anyone think of any reason why this character might be stuck? Thank you for any help. |

Anyone who wants to use the SE features (map, etc) needs to connect to the server with a copy of SE. RunUO doesn't include any map data or anything like that, only the server support to link it all together. The computer running the server also needs SE installed. The server reads from the map files to see where and how characters are allowed to move.
That said, RunUO 1.0.0 doesn't include all the new items and mobiles that are in SE, nor are all the moongates linked. 1.0.1 should have that stuff, although it's release date is "Soon ™"

If you install UO SE and a previous version is already installed, I believe it will auto-update the old version, but I don't know for sure. You can specify the full path to UO SE in Scripts\Misc\DataPath.cs to be sure it's reading the files from there. Or uninstall all prior versions of UO and then install UO SE again. Also double check Scripts\Misc\MapDefinitions.cs for a line that looks like this: "RegisterMap( 4, 4, 4, 1448, 1448, 1, "Tokuno", MapRules.TrammelRules );" If, when your son logs to the samurai character and he sees an entirely black screen, he needs to install UO SE. If, when he logs on, he sees a map but can't move, the computer running the server needs UO SE installed. Run the client autopatch on both computers to update the data files. (Start the client normally, as in not through UO Gateway, or run "UOPatch.exe" from the UO folder.) Unless you've specified otherwise in Scripts\Misc\DataPath.cs, RunUO will try and detect the location of the UO data files from the registry. If it's set to "null" then it will try and autodetect, otherwise it will use the path given. If you have seperate data files for your server, those need to be updated from an up-to-date installation of UO SE. You can try going to Tokuno as a GM and using the [go function to go to a known good area, or [tele onto a spot of land and see if you can walk around. If so, the starting area may be placing him in a spot where he's stuck. Go there yourself and try and walk around, check his and your Z setting with "[m get z" and make sure they're the same. If not, "[move" him to a new location near you and see if he can move then, if so, then the character creation script is placing him below ground. Scripts\Misc\CharacterCreation.cs handles placement of new characters. The samurai starting location is in Malas BTW.
