Hello, and minimal-playable question.

Hello all.

Since this is my first post, let me congratulate both the RunUO creators for creating such a wonderful piece of software, and the denizens of these forums on building such a cooperative, creative environment.

By way of background, I'm an old hack when it comes to computer games in general, but am completely new to both UO and RunUO.

RunUO is so newbie-friendly it took me all of ten minutes to get a server up and running. I wandered around for a while and wondered "where are all the monsters?". Searched the forums, discovered I needed to spawn the monsters, found Nerun's Distro 4.0.9, and that too installed like a breeze.

Now, finally , to my question. I'd like to run a very small scale server, just for a few friends to putz around on for an hour a week. If I define basic MMORPG functionality as the ability to wack mobs, do quests, gain loot and xp, and skill-up, is using Nerun and nothing else sufficient for my purpose?

I did note last night that there were no monsters in one of the dungeons I zoned into, but perhaps playing as Admin caused that.

Yeah, you should be good to go.

Feel free to browse the script submissions and look for stuff you think might be useful, but you shouldn't *need* anything else.

One of the other things you may wish to consider, is some of the many quest scripts that have been submitted as well... there are a good number of them and many require little or no setup and of course theres a few that you may want to wait until you get your feet wet a little bit.
If they are close personal friends, you may even trust them enough to take turns being 'admin-for-a-day' and alternate who sets the quest up since most of the surprises would be spoiled for the person setting them up... as long as you make backups beforehand, its not like they could do much damage even if they did manage to mess up a little
