Thks for stopping by.

Rather than see all this start...once again.

Welcome to RunUO. It's the greatest way to put up a server, you just have to learn C# (which is great imo!). The script support forum will be your best friend when you start getting down and dirty with script modifications so you'll certainly want to aquaint yourself with that.

As for how to start out......

1) You'll want to learn C#, a tutorial that helped me greatly can be found here...
C# Tutorials

Hopefully this helps you, if not there are many others!

2) You'll want to grab some good software, Visual C# has been released for free and I certainly do love it. I don't have the download link handy, but I'm sure google can help you locate it.

3) To start you'll want to start modifying small scripts...just checking out what little changes do. Changing the hues of items, names of items, small things like that until you get the hang of the code.

Most importantly have fun with it and don't be afraid to come and ask for help on the forums as the RunUO community offers many individuals of nearly divine skill in coding (no...not myself lol but others!).

Your tone of sarcasm is not needed. Phatom told you that you were in violation of the rules, and rightly so. In Each and every Forum, and subforum, there is a sticky. That sticky is the Rules. In case you dont underatnd what a sticky is, It is a thread which has been bookmarked in a way so that it appears at the top of every page in its respective forum. So you have no excuse for not reading them. Also on the RunUO main site, before you can even goto the forums, there are rules that must be read. I will admit that the editing was rude, but considering the amount of threrads that we see each day that break the rules, It is understandable. He is, after all just human. Also from mine and others' standpoint, it was quite humorous.

In any event, being that you have alrerady broken the rules, that little comment you made, was borderlining on a passive-aggressive flame. You dont need to say things like that. It only makes you look like a jackass.

But anyways, welcome to RunUO, now that you have read the rules, I would download the server and read the docs folder. Then, I'd go and read the compendium that someone posted in the FAQ forum. There are other goodies in the FAQ forum as well. After that, indulge yourself in some already made scripts from the custom scripts releases section and learn how to install your own scripts. Lastly I would check out some reading materials on C#, dot net, and learn how to code and script. There are many good resources on the web, Mideon posted one, but there are actual books as well. I personally prefer books, because I seem to get distracted to other things when I'm at the computer. (not that I've actually got around to reading it yet, too much other stuff going on lol) And get yourself an editor. Someone mentioned Visual Studio, there is also one called SharpDevelop which you can get off of sourceforge. If you have any problems or errors in your scripts ask Politely in the script support forum. People here are into programming for the experience, so solving your problems is benefical to them as well, so someone should help you.

Good luck, and please try to follow the rules in the future. That comment was unneccesary, and a community cannot succeed in a state of anarchy.

You can quite easily add people to your ignore list via their public profile. That way they can keep saying what they want and you won't have to be bothered by it (except for other people quoting the people on your ignore list).

I can only recommend it. In the long run it really does save aggrivation.

It's a good way to just 'turn off' people whose opinion you do not value
