A fresh install of RunUO 2.0 runs fine (with at least 3 people logged in) on an old Dell I have that has an 800 Mhz processor, 256 MB RAM, and a 5 GB Harddrive. I'm utilizing a home cable internet connection.
Other things installed and/or running on the computer: Windows XP (Obviously need an OS) .NET Framework 2.0 Teamspeak server No-IP thing I can't imagine having a crappier computer than that and trying to run RunUO (or pretty much anything ;-) ). For the record, recompiling scripts (aka non-cached restart) takes a good while, but saves take 1-2 seconds (of course not many items or spawns with a fresh install). |

It really depends on the amount of players and the size of your world.
If you just want to hop on and mess around by yourself or with 2-3 other people, you can get by with a dial up connection, 256MB of memory (if you want to play UO with the same computer, otherwise 128 will cut it), and few hundred Hz of processor. If you want to play around with 20-30 people at a time and have a semi-large world, try 1GHz+ and 256-512MB of memory, with a dsl/cable connection. |

from their website: "No-IP Free is our entry level service. Use yourname.no-ip.com instead of a hard to remember IP address or URL. Additionally use our dynamic update client to keep track of your dynamic IP address. You will always be able to get to your computer even if you IP address is dynamically assigned."
I use their service because of my dialup connection, it's pretty handy. http://www.no-ip.com/index.php

Right, you install a small program on your host computer and it tells the No-IP server what your IP Address is. It is good if you don't have a static IP. That way people can type in YourShardName.No-IP.org (they have a few suffixes) and then No-IP gives them your IP at that moment.
If UO Gateway was working, you'd register with the no-ip address. |
