Default Very minor map edit

I have spent a couple of days reading various posts here about editing maps and, in all truth, I am still none the wiser!

A lot of the information is outdated in that the programs don't exist, or newer versions have come out.

What I am looking to do is a really minor addition. I want to add some farmlands. This would, I am guessing, require them to be the proper terrain tile, modified onto the map file itself. I want players to be able to plant crops there.

Can anyone give me some clear directions as to a) Which files are needed to make this modification and b) Some general or specific instructions on how to achieve it or what not to do.

Thanks in advance

That should do the trick: MulEditor
(And you most likely want to edit map0.mul, statics0.mul and staidx0.mul which contains Felucca and most parts of Trammel)

Hi Floppydisc, thanks, that looks like it is a fair sight more simple than anything else I've seen so far!!

So, I just want to add some farmlands to once specific region in Trammel. You say I need to edit map0.mul, statics0.mul and staidx0.mul, adding Tile Data, Land Tiles. Draw them in, save it. Distribute those files to my players (only a group of friends so no need for complex patching procedures).

Does that sound approximately the right method for achieving this?

Thanks for your help.

If you *only* want to edit trammel (and not affect felucca) then you need to load mapdif*1.mul and stadif*1.mul after you have loaded the map (if you have the map open, you can find that under File --> Load Diff). Then you can edit whatever you want, and hit File --> Save Diff and save it to the same files (mapdif*1.mul and stadif*1.mul) [I used "*" as wildmark, because there are several of these files]. You should NOT hit "File --> Save", but it would warn you if you do
