I may not be the exact definition of a "new person" but I am still relatively a newbie. We have been designing this shard for about 5 months now, and off and on we've been trying to connect to each other and we simply cannot connect! I've scoured these forums and we've tried just about everything there is...port forwarding, turning off firewalls, uo rice, etc...I just don't understand what's going on! I have an Actiontec S4 router downstairs and I have an ethernet cable that runs down to it. Portforward.com gave me some hints as to portforward, and I did forward 2593 to the router, and well...still nothing. I went downstairs and turned off the firewall, enabled my computer...still nothing!! I may not have the best grasp on port forwarding (I did it through windows firewall and by typing my addy in the address bar to get to the setup) but once again...nothing works.
I'm not exactly sure which IP address to put into the serverlist.cs (my 69.xxx.x.x one that is detected when I go to websites, my 192.xxx.x.x one that is my local router ip, my 255.255.etc one that is my subnet mask, or what? And does the port 2593 HAVE to be 2593? I just don't know...we are using Razor to connect, and we have put a variety of variables in the IP and port fields. We've tried connecting from different houses so we know we're all doing something wrong, here. The only person who can connect to me is my brother who's on the same router and when I put my local router number of 192...etc in my serverlist.cs he is able to...but only after running UORice. We've tried UOgateway and ConnectUO and those also don't work. We are all happy with the way the shard has developed, and now we just need to well...get hooked up!! Out of all the newbie responses to ignore, please look on your kinder side and help us out! Would it help if I said please?! We are so close, and I am willing to go out of my way to repay someone nice enough to get me through this last hurdle. I've seen michael40906's post and realize that these sort of questions are getting monotonous, but I have literally tried everything. I'm at the end of my rope and you guys are my last chance... Thank you for any help in advance... Last edited by Makaar; 01-15-2007 at 03:53 AM. |

You may need to look into using Mr. FixIt's Serverlist.cs which can be found over at UOGateway. (sorry I don't have a link to it)
You may also need to look into using a DNS service to go along with it and there are a number of free ones listed in the Serverlist.cs itself that you can sign up for.

Thank you everybody for helping me through this. Since all the help was done first hand through PMing and AIM, I just wanted to let everyone else know who is having this problem that I was port-forwarding wrong...I just followed the below link:
http://portforward.com/english/route...ima_Online.htm But instead of forwarding the ports they told me to on that page for retail UO, I just did 2593, and now we're all working just fine! Thanks to everybody who helped again, I am in your debt... |
