Default Where did Simplicity go?

Long ago I ran a Sphere 55i server for UO, and was very satisfied at the time with what they had. Since then it seems Sphere has effectively died. I have followed RunUO for quite a while too, but have not, as yet, learned the scripting language to my satisfaction. I have noticed that while setting up a sphere shard was easy and very customizable, RunUO seems to lack the simple INI file, and also that most in-game variables I might wish to adjust are difficult to locate. In Example, the only client install I currently have is the Golden Client, 4.0.2, supposedly an unmodified installation, yet it wont allow me to log into my server. I have attempted numerous levels of patching, and yet every time i either get a client that wont connect, or connects and everyone is naked and the creature art is cross linked (a summoned Chicken that looks like a dragon or a troll). Also the newest patches have changed Haven, so any starting character ends up in the water. In Sphere starting locations was easy to find and change. I am clueless as to where to find this info in RunUO. I would appreciate any assistance I can get, and thank you!

Did you download the RunUO RC1 verion? If so, your client needs to be at a version less than 6.0.1.7. The ting to consider to is to make sure that your client and server have the same version of the UO client installed. There are some easy instructions floating aroun on how to do a basic compile of the core portion of the RunUO stuff in order to use the latest sub version release commonly refered to as the latest SVN. Then you can use the latest UO client patch and the latest SVN (currently at 264 at the time of this post).

Here's a list of stuff you need:
Get the latest SVN here

Tortoise SVN software (Its free)

UO:ML client
From Downloads.com

Razor (Like UOAssist)
Helps in the connection to custom servers

That is true, most things are either set via a playermobile tag, once you get in you can view it using the [props command on a player, or they are set in the specific script for that setting/feature.

There are many posts on this forum dealing with every aspect of server customization. Once you know what you are looking for do a search or post a question asking for help and we can help you.

Older clients may have been what you used with sphere, but with RunUO the newer clients are usually recommended. I would try using 5.0.9.1. That is the last version before the big map changes and before the newer login changes.

Starting locations are pretty easy in RunUO too. In Scripts/Misc/CharacterCreation.cs there is a section for starting location. There are probably 100s of posts related to Starting location on this forum as well. Did a quick search, found about 400 related topics. The best one seems to be this one:
Frequent Script Edit Requests

Since not everything is central in RunUO you will have to look into the scripts folder. Windows file search can help you locate specific files if you sort of know what you are looking for.
