Hey everybody,
Like most of you I used to play UO a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. Recently me and some friends were bs-ing about how much fun it was and I figured I would try the emulation gig out. Now, other than the minor operating experience that any longtime gamer has I have no programming, modding or coding credentials. I downloaded RunUO and tried it out, and after a little difficulty got it to host correctly(I think). Now I'm stuck. I tried using Razor like it says in different areas but I cannot log in. I'm sure there is a simple solution to this but frankly all of the 'beginner' and 'starting' guides seem a little antiquated or just not very descriptive. Now, can anyone here please, take me step by step through this process? I really just want to play some UO with my friends, well not the real UO. |

Step 1: Know which version of UO you want to play. If you have downloaded the most recent one from EA, and ran it once to get fully patched, then you are at v6.0.5 or higher.
Step 2: Get the RunUO appropriate for the version of UO you have. If you have fully patched, then you want RunUO v2.0 RC2, which supports the new Haven map files introduced in UO v6.0. If you have an earlier version, or stopped patching around v5, then you want RunUO v2.0 RC1. Step 3: If you are hosting the Server, and have a Router, you must forward Port 2593 to your computer's IP address. Check your Router's documentation for instructions on doing that. Step 4: Install the latest Razor. Step 5: If you just want to connect using the same computer where the Server is being hosted, then in Razor, you set the IP Address to 127.0.0.1, and the port to 2593, and connect. Make sure "Patch Client Encryption" is Checked. Step 6: If you don't know what your IP address is, go to What Is My IP Address? - Lookup IP, Hide IP, Change IP, Trace IP and more..., and it will tell you. If you are using a Router, remember that the IP address you will see is the Router's IP, not your computer's IP. If you are using a Router, then your PC's IP is probably something like 192.168.0.1, which is a 'Private' address. If you have a Public IP address, it might look like 62.45.124.17, or any other combination, but it will NOT start with "192.168...", "127.0...", "10.0...", which are Private addresses. Step 7: If you want others to connect to you from their PCs, then in the file ServerList.cs in your Scripts/Misc folder, you need to change this line: Code:
public static readonly string Address = null; Code:
public static readonly string Address = "62.45.124.17"; |

Thanks for the quick response Lokai,
I gave it a go and get things working(kind of) There seem to be a few issues that I have noticed thus far. For one, the patcher stopped at 5.0.8.1, now im not really set on what version I have to be playing so is this a hinderance or not really an issue. Second, all of the doors and entrances seem to be off and to the left, not really sure how to go about fixing this. Finally there seems to be a few clipping issues that i've noticed, nothing too serious but Im just trying to be descriptive. Any help would be appreciated. |

Alright cool, ill give that doorgen command i try when I get back on later. With 'clipping' I was refering to some collision dectection issues. My character sometimes runs on the true ground level instead of the hills and it ends up making it look like im wading through a swamp. I also get stuck sometimes and if not for the admin abilities to teleport I would be f-ed. I was going to start directing this stuff to a more proper channel, not quite sure which forum area to hit up though. Either way thanks for all the help man, its gotten me of the ground so far.
