How do I play on other shards?

I know this is probably a horrible question, but im not as interested in making my own shard. Could anyone help me find another shard to play on. I really have a very little clue as to what i am doing and what i need.

First you need to decide what era of UO you want to play, here is the list of the best shards for common eras.

Pre-UOR: UOGamers: Divinity
Pre-AOS: UOGamers: Hybrid
OSI: UOGamers: Demise

They're really the best shards.

If you're looking to play a custom shard, good luck finding a good one!

I suggest none of the above unless your completely newb to UO. If not I would decide rather if you wanna RP or PVP. An its allways a great idea to try an talk to staff as soon as you test or shop for a new serverto play on. Big shards like hybrid and those others, the staff is not so friendly nor helpful. you rely more on other players which is ok but can be a pain in the butt. As if your on a small shard, staff is very friendly and helpful most the time. Kinda like to you like standing out in the crowd or you just like being with the in crowd.

actually i think he needs help on how to connect to shards wekk all you gota do is download razor and go to a website like Join UO and find a server that interest you and try it out

All depends on your interests, you can find a lot about a shard by viewing its website, if they haven't taken the time to provide a lot of info on their website, its a good chance they haven't taken much time on the shard itself. (EDIT: by this I mean actual content, not design) Use ConnectUO to browse various shards, or alternatively enter their IP into razor (usually can be found on the shards website).

Also, don't use Join UO, its made by a disreputable member of this community who will most likely sell your email to spammers or some such. ConnectUO and Razor are made by members of the same team that made RunUO so you know its good and honest.

And yet you promote a service ran by a 12 year old which has exactly *five* shards on it, one of which is his own?

Freeshards are actually pretty consistant. Most of the Shards that are populous are still there from august 2007 (last serverlist update) All the rest of the list (99%) is usually fly by night shards which you wouldn't want to play anyway. You can still connect to the decent ones, only thing that doesn't work is patching. You can also still make a manual entry.

ConnectUO went down, we lost data, and you to knock us for having problems over something out of our control (especially on a service provided for completely free )is fucking bullshit. I have been working on ConnectUO everyday for over a week now to try to get it back into working order, its funny how inconsiderate little fucking cunts like you are. B: JoinUO is not an alternative as its serverlist while fully working is shorter than ConnectUO's while broken. It also doesn't even launch the client

All JoinUO is doing right now is serving as a toplist, there's a whole bunch of toplists, most of which actually get visitors. And all of which have more than 5 servers. Unlike JoinUO, which has 5 and gets NO visitors. Not to mention the point raised earlier about the user running it who has proven himself time and time again to be dishonest and disreputable.

For a 15 year old you sure do have a mouth on you, TBH there really is no need for you to be cussing.
Your showing your true colors, and I doubt you will get any respect from a lot of people here.

Sure, ConnectUO is down... but you can find other ways to connect/find servers for the time being. For myself I use razor and my web browser. There are even custom servers that use their own launcher, but overwrite your UO directory.

CUO will be up when it's up. I can see now why there is a possibility that Mr. Fixit got up and vanished. Stress.

Honestly I can not say that I blame you, I would do the same. Some people just assume its your job to be their personal bitch and fix everything when they want it ... The same attitude you guys are given when something goes wrong is why a lot of decent shards falter. Players log onto a free game and assume the staff is their personal slave. I figure when they pay your mortgage payments and bills they can set dead lines till then they just need to STFU..
