Age of Shadows - RunUO

I have the Age of Shadows 2D version of UO installed on my PC and I'm trying to establish a local server so far.

I've been told in a different thread that the reason I can only get as far as the character creation screen and it doesn't continue past the "Creating character..." message is that I need to update my client.

Thing is, when I run UO.exe and it starts giving me the messages that it's updating my client (or whatever that is exactly), I receive an error message and it tells me the game "should be playable anyway".

Is there perhaps a newer version of UO, compatible with RunUO/ConnectUO, that I could download that anyone knows of?
Or if, say, I was going to act unscrupulously and, for example, search Google for a rapidshare of the latest version of UO or something, what search terms might you use?

Or should I go to UO.com and look to troubleshoot this updating issue?

You can download the 6.0.0.0 Client on uoherald.com, just look for the classic client, not the enhanced one. You may need to patch it up to 6.0.4.0 if you are using RunUO 2.0 Final. Older clients can use the RunUO 1.0 server instead, but I have only used the 2.0 Final version.

i'm not sure if the AOS client still works with runuo since its hard to find a copy these days but the uo gold client works fine (search: uo gold). if your wanting to run AOS i wouldn't go past version 5.0.9.1 due to the map changes.

Get the latest client, as listed above.

You will still be able to set up an AOS shard, even with an ML client.

Thx guys

I downloaded the classic client from uoherald.com and installed it.

I'm patching the client now, it's taken about 3 hours so far and it's up to 7.0.3.0. Do I need to go any further? If I hit cancel will the entire update process screw up? Or should I just let it continue til it's done?
