Default Releasing MODs.

If I were to release my modification to RunUO, would I have to include the source?

Just a question because if I have to release the source I'll have to think hard about releasing it at all...

If you provide them for download, you have to provide the source to the download, since its under a GPL License.

You should release it, because you wouldn't have it otherwise, if the team didn't provide you RunUO. You also couldn't have made your changes without the source.

If do release it for the general public to downoad, and you don't release the source, its not legal so don't advertise here. If that happens, you should provide the support, not except us to do so.

If you don't release the source, don't even mention your "changes" here as I will report the thread, so only do so if you plan to release the source.

Kk, thanks for the reasoning!!

I was just worrying about getting credit for making it but im sure I can hide some code somewhere that gives me credit on startup. XD

Expect an ALPHA of RunHS soon, heheh, as im only copy+pasting my code into runhs scripts.

Hey, anyone know if I would get away with making compiled addons available minus source? (If the engine loads them...)

I.E. A dll in in the server directory....?

In order to do that, you would have to modify the core, and thus release your source. Plus it wouldn't sit well to not release the source to your scripts.

Please don't bump older topics, that are not in being posted, its just plain rude.

Would I only have to release the source to the core though? Because I have only added like 2 lines for it to include certain dlls in the directory.

I was planning on doing this so that I can release the Item library and some critical functions seperatly W/O source. This was so I dont get '1337 H4X0rZ' and script kiddies re-releasing it with their name on, and so I can make the addons available on request.

Im not sure if I may even use this, because Im getting lots of runtime errors. :S

If your going to release yorur scripts, release their source, otherwise don't bother.

Your post most likely would be removed if you don't provide the source to your script. Its to protect the newbies, more then anything.
