Is it possible to add a race selection option (for example) to character creation dialog?

you mean on the OSI page when they 1st make the character?
Sorry no - that is all client side

yopu need to make one that once they are in game for them to then choose the race from your race system
a gate, stone or even a non closeable gump that comes up when they 1st enter britian, or something along those lines
