Feedback regarding POL and perhaps client in general

Kottke: I have a couple of other problems using it with a POL shard but I wont list them because I am not sure if it is designed to support this. If you are interested you can let me know.

Krrios: Well, if they're issues with how the client reacts to POL servers, then I guess it's fine to post.

Ok, I am not sure if these are just limited to POL:

1) Lighting doesnt appear to work if you hold a lantern, candle, etc. Same for game lightsources such as lamp-posts, etc. They dont emit any light.

2) The character is unable to sit on any furniture.

3) The NPC vendor menu displays the right graphic for the item but the wrong description. So Black Pearl has the right graphic but is listed as a Spellbook for example. The prices are also not correctly interpreted as something that would cost 6gp is reported as costing 300gp etc which it seems to take from other items for sale in the menu. The transaction can be made ok however at the right price.

4) I have noticed some odd behaviour using certain menus. The best way to explain this would be to offer a couple of screenshots to give you an idea of what is wrong. You can find these at:

Crafting menus work perfectly.

5) This may not be a bug but the spell shortcuts dragged from the spellbook to the desktop do not appear to be moveable or deleteable once placed. (fixed - hold shift)

6) The transparency settings dont seem to work other than for viewing. In the OSI client you can use the circle of transparency to place chests,etc in places you cant see normally and then access them. However, although transparency works great visually and you can see the object, it is not possible to interact with it at all as the client still thinks it is hidden from view.

7) I havent yet figured out how to rename animals. When I bring up their statbar I am unable to type in a new name.

All of these issues (well, except for #5 that Kiwi explained) are intrinsic issues with the client and so not dependant on the emulator. I'll see about getting them fixed, but understand the majority of my time is spent with RunUO, not the client.

Krioss client is notorious for having NPC buy menu mismatches. Offset by 1 or more sometimes. LOL rather funny if you ask me. :P
