HOW TO: Run Razor in Windows Vista

You need to MANUALLY download .Net 1.1 Redistributable Package (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en).

A message will popup twice when you try to install saying that "This version is incompatible" blah blah blah.

Select Run Program Anyway.

Once it's done, you'll have 1.1, 2.0 (included with Vista), and 3.0(Included with Vista) in Vista, and Razor will run.

PLEASE NOTE: The Windows Vista Aero theme/appearance does *NOT* display Razor Counters in the Title Bar. *ONLY* The translucent title bar (Aero) has this issue. (See this thread for more information.)

Windows Standard, Windows Classic, and Vista Basic all show the counters with no problems.

Actually it hasn't... That's a pre-release version I gave to some people who were on IRC. The official, "full" one will be out sometime in the not-so-distant future.

Yeah RC1 seems to work well, but stay away from RC2 there are some serious compatability issues with that release.

I can get Razor working but everytime it goes to load UO itself, I get a little box that says fatal and nothing else happens. Razor says waiting client to load. Did you use a special version of UO client? I used a 7th anniversary cd edition. Just wondering. Thanks!

I had this problem. I tried to run uo alone after this and i got an error 'unable to open fonts file' or something like that. trying to reinstall uo and razor to see if it helps

After experimenting I installed UO and Razor, then copied over my old UO folder and Razor folder into the new directories. After doing that it worked fine. I'm not sure what caused the fix. I'm thinking the new install wasn't able to patch to the OSI servers enough to fix whatever issue is out there. Since my old folder had the most recent patches the new folders were updated.

I've manually installed 1.1 and no longer have the freezing. The logon box now gives me a message saying that I've typed my password in wrong, or I'm not patched all of the way... I just installed Vista yesterday, and installed a fresh copy of UO, patched all of the way, installed 1.1, don't have caps locks on, and am lost... Has anyone else had this problem, and how can I fix it?

Im having trouble

Updated to 5.0.9.0 uo, fresh
fresh razor


I applied all my hotkeys but when i alt tab back and forth, upon doing so my macros dont work, as in my recorded macros, trying to hotkey them and I get errors.

Well I'm not sure if this will help anyone else or not, I use windows XP but I also use Stardock Desktop applications, one of which is Windowblinds, basically the same software built into Vista to skin it and apply many of the new applications used for so many desktop themes.

Anyways I found that 80% or more of the skins I want to use will not work with Razor (why is this btw????? can it be fixed???? who's end has to fix it????) sooooooo I opened my windowblinds application and I told it not to skin all the client type files in the UO folder (about 6 of them) and now my display counter works on all my skins.

I don't know how Vista works for skinning, but I would imagine that somewhere you should be able to tell it not to skin a particular application and use the default skin? Worth a chance at checking maybe?

Seriously though, why doesn't it work with the new skins? What do we need to do? Who do we talk to etc. is it something Vista/Stardock needs to fix? Or the skinners that created the skins? Or Razor?

*sits back and hopes that maybe just maybe this post out of the few she's posted in here in the last week or so will actually get an answer*

UO + Razor + UOGateway + Vista 64bit: What do you mean by this? I am no techie. I got two error messages;
1 = Razor was unable to locate and load a suitable UO cliloc file. Some text may not be diplayed.
2 = Razor.exe/UOG.dll; Unable to find the client specified. TwoD: -"null"-

I read about how to change some info regarding the cliloc stuff..... but my brain started getting fuzzy and mushy.....

I read one way to get into UO on one page of how to's, I follow that....nowhere
I read it on another how to ..... I follow that,,,nowhere.....

Is there somewhere, where the information is current and step by step? I am not one to give up ~ I have been at this for over 5 hours today alone....I just want to play but cannot even get in anymore after following everyones wonderful advice. I used to be able to get in but I wanted to play on Allure ~ it was terribly slow, no it was at a standstill for me, movement 3 inches every 5 minutes......

I can't run razor in vista, Im getting the Cliloc error and the client closes...
I have the .NET 1.1 installed like this post say, but i can't fix the problem, Anyone help me? Thank you very much
