Default Delay in mouse-click response

When I try and drag something from one bag to another (especially small things like gems) I tend to drag the original bag for a bit then, without reclicking my mouse, the client realizes that I was actually dragging the item and puts it on my cursor for me to finish dragging.

Is there any setting I can change that'll help eliminate this behavior?

Thanks in advance,

-Asmo

I'm no expert with Razor, but that sounds like it could be a problem in regards to lag. That happens to me sometimes if I am lagging on the server I'm playing on...

That's certainly possible as I'm often playing on a laggy connection. But from a technical point of view, why would lag influence the client when it's trying to determine what you're clicking or not. Unless somehow the server has to get involved in that transaction.

Well, I would have to physically see the problem to evaluate it, however perhaps a small way to check if it is infact lag, or if its another issue, download a runUO 2.0 test centre, and connect to it with the same pc its hosted off. This will allow you to play on a basic shard, and you should receive minimal if not no lag at all.

see if the problem still occurs on a test centre, and then post again

Unfortunately I have an early morning tomorrow, and its almost midnight where I am, so I am going to crash. If the problem still occurs on a Test Centre, then it is most likely NOT a lag issue, and I'm sure someone else will come across this thread soon, and provide some help / ideas.

If not I will check it again when I wake up.

Cheers for now...

Thanks for the help. It is lag-related and I figured out why. When you move an item (off a corpse say) other people looking at the corpse see it move too. So the client needs to confirm with the server that, in fact, you've successfully picked that up.

I guess it's all in the matter of how the client was coded. If it assumed that you were succcessful in picking something up and started floating it this problem wouldn't exist. Instead, you'd have to make items on your cursor disappear if the server told the client that the object was no longer available when it thought it was.

On a related note, I was able to download and get running a RunUO server but couldn't connect to it nor change any of the environment. Is there a quick link to tools to make that happen? The intro was too far over my head to be helpful - at least what I was reading.

Thanks!

ONce the server has compiled you need to connect to it using your local IP address. This can be obtained by going:

Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig

as for Changing the enviroment, I assume you mean decoration ? In which case you can use a wonderful program called Pandora's Box. As for some basic staff commands to add items.

[add

you can also add specific items by saying [add <item here>. eg: [add bag

etc.

hope that helps out a bit m8

You mean like walk around ?

Because that is very easy, you must use Razor (program to boot UO).

In the little razor window that pops up when you run the program, there are multiple tabs. Select the Macros tab and then you can create new macros and all sorts of things.

basically after clicking "record" it records your characters every action.

play around a bit with it and experiment

Yes, that much I know. I write some pretty complex macros at the text level. But I cannot get this one to wotk. Here's a link to my post with the question which explains it better:

Absolute path or pathfinding in a macro?

Thanks!
