Default HOW TO: Run Razor in Ubuntu Linux
sudo uname -a Linux dn4-desktop 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 22:56:21 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

I assume you have UO installed and wine-1.1.5 as well

To get this to work do this

Get winetricks first b/c this will help install the dotnet20 that razor will need.


wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks

Now to install dotnet20 and fontfix with winetricks do this:

sh winetricks dotnet20
sh winetricks fontfix


wget -c http://www.runuo.com/razor/Razor_Latest.exe

Install Razor_latest.exe using wine and everything should start up

Ok so after installing everything razor works with default settings, but after I close it everything fails to start back up

so you have to rm -r Razor in the wine directory and reinstall everything all over just to get it to work;

You don't have to reinstall whole Razor, you only have to delete default created profiles files (default.xml and i think chars.xml), or lines with scavenger and sell agents from default.xml file, they are causing your problems. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, many of my friends made it work without problems.

When I try to run dotnetfx 2.0 it prompts me with an error, however, when I try to run sh dotnetfx it just aborts.

What exactly is sh dotnetfx that it would be aborting? And why, even after installing winetricks, would I not be able to install dotnetfx?

And, just out of curiosity, what is winetricks? Is it something only UO uses?

DotNet is a package microsoft created that all the new microsoft products (windows based programs like Internet explorer 6+ and office xp+ and other stuff that was made for xp and newer windows requires). Razor needs it because razor is made specifically for windows.

yeah that seemed to do the trick thanks. .. any other tips or tricks with running everything in Linux?

Tip: The 'port' box on the Razor login screen is uneditable, but you can work around this by typing:
"wine regedit.exe"
and edting the Razor registry key for 'lastserver' to anything, as just modifying it makes that field editable.

It does not give you the macro options and the other niceties of razor but UOLauncher (google it to find it) will launch the game for you in a similar way for Linux users. Just make sure you use UO rice and unencrypt the client.exe file so it can connect to the free shards. Much easier to get running on Linux than Razor (not to say Razor is not good or useful, it is the best I have used for uo on windows).

does runuo works on UBUNTU 8.10? I used this manual but i can't install dotnet20 correctly so razor can't work.

question? If u use uorice and unencrypt the client.exe cant u just edit the login.cfg file to the shard u wanna use??
and just run client.exe instead of needing a launcher?

You are supposed to be able to do it that way, but it never worked for me. Where as UOLauncher worked for me once I used UORice to unencrypt the client.

I've tried a number of times to get Razor to work and always end up with the following error the first time I run it

and on the second attempt I get

Code:
Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
I've tried this with various versions of wine form the current stable up to the latest. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, I have also tried it in the 32 bit version as well.

I run the following commands to install Razor

I fixed my problem by reinstalling with Hardy rather than Intrepid and now have Razor working.

Another great thread about UO under wine: Anyone gotten Razor to work with Linux->Wine 0.9.59->w/ .NET2.0?

As a small note, I've use the information in this thread to get UO and Razor working under Ubuntu 8.10 with Wine 1.0.1.

Was that 32 bit or 64 bit?

I'm on a 64 bit AMD and couldn't get dotnet 2 to install correctly under Ubuntu 8.10 when I downgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 it worked with ease

Default Hotkeys
Hi guys I managed to get Razor working under WINE in Ubuntu 8.10
But i cant get the hotkeys to work.
I set the hotkey in razor then when i click it inside UO nothing happens but if i click execute hotkey in razor it executes the hotkey.
anyone knows how to solve this problem?

I tried to use Razor on Wine 1.1.22, but it didn't work.
The error encountered is:

I believe the oriya fonts might be causing that error. Winetricks' "fontfix" is supposed to fix that, but doesn't, for some reason. To get rid of the oriya fonts, use the following command:

That fixed it for me. Currently running UO with the latest Razor in Wine.

Hello, I have followed these steps exactly and have had no problems, uo loads fine, but when I try to open razor it does nothing... Any ideas?
