I assume you have UO installed and wine-1.1.5 as well

To get this to work do this

Get winetricks first b/c this will help install the dotnet20 that razor will need.


wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks

Now to install dotnet20 and fontfix with winetricks do this:

sh winetricks dotnet20
sh winetricks fontfix


wget -c http://www.runuo.com/razor/Razor_Latest.exe

Install Razor_latest.exe using wine and everything should start up

Ok so after installing everything razor works with default settings, but after I close it everything fails to start back up

so you have to rm -r Razor in the wine directory and reinstall everything all over just to get it to work;

You don't have to reinstall whole Razor, you only have to delete default created profiles files (default.xml and i think chars.xml), or lines with scavenger and sell agents from default.xml file, they are causing your problems. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, many of my friends made it work without problems.

When I try to run dotnetfx 2.0 it prompts me with an error, however, when I try to run sh dotnetfx it just aborts.

What exactly is sh dotnetfx that it would be aborting? And why, even after installing winetricks, would I not be able to install dotnetfx?

And, just out of curiosity, what is winetricks? Is it something only UO uses?

DotNet is a package microsoft created that all the new microsoft products (windows based programs like Internet explorer 6+ and office xp+ and other stuff that was made for xp and newer windows requires). Razor needs it because razor is made specifically for windows.

yeah that seemed to do the trick thanks. .. any other tips or tricks with running everything in Linux?

Tip: The 'port' box on the Razor login screen is uneditable, but you can work around this by typing:
"wine regedit.exe"
and edting the Razor registry key for 'lastserver' to anything, as just modifying it makes that field editable.

It does not give you the macro options and the other niceties of razor but UOLauncher (google it to find it) will launch the game for you in a similar way for Linux users. Just make sure you use UO rice and unencrypt the client.exe file so it can connect to the free shards. Much easier to get running on Linux than Razor (not to say Razor is not good or useful, it is the best I have used for uo on windows).
